I noticed that Budsgunshop had my favorite .22lr for 5 cents a round. Told the wife, but decided for now we are stacked high enough.

Exactly so! My wife and I agreed that from the time she gets home from work at 4:15 until 8 is family time. No puters, no running off to the casting room. It is OUR time. The other 20 hours of the day are mine. Now I am retired, so if I feel...

Personally I think a lot of the parallax talk is hype from the scope company's. Airgunner's do tend to get into it more as for accuracy they often shoot with high magnification and short ranges. For a purpose like that I can see spending extra...

To God be the Glory! Accepting that things have to change is the hardest part. You have that nailed. Glad that things are turning around for you.

Growing up I was lucky enough to get to know two older guys who lived out on the edge of the woods. Off the grid we would say today. I never saw a year when those two guys did not get a young tender deer for eating. Both had lever guns in .35 Rem. ...

6 grains of Red Dot under any bullet in the 200-310 grain range will work. Essentially a .44 mag round in a .444marlin long case. I have simply not had the energy to pack the range bag, pack the car, drive to the range, unpack, shoot, and then...

Help is coming your way brother! You just close your eyes, feel that pain disappear, drift off to sleep. Be better when you wake up. Already talked to the big guy, help is on its way. Tomorrow might want to think about how you got here....

Different strokes. Me I started out with my dad's Bushnell deer rifle scope. 3x9x40 had to go to tall rings to mount it. But once I learned it I was shooting 12 ga hulls laid on the snow so I could only see the brass base. 90% were hit in the...

Why do you need heavier bullets? Why not just shoot 55 gr and be happy? If you really do need a .223 that will handle heavier bullets I suspect it would be cheaper to start from scratch with a gun that has the twist rate you want.

Are those bullets going to be big enough? Fit is king, get it right first and the rest falls into line quickly and easily. My Yugo SKS slugged at .312. Standard .312 185 gr gc bullets from a lee mold were too small and leaded like a !#!#^$%. ...

I would agree that if planning on a longer barrel a steel breech would be IMO a good idea. And give the option for a Red Dot or scope down the road. Gunguy well there are springers and then there are springers. I have a Hatsan 135 QE Vortex...

Well if I could not resupply the first thing that happens is the Semi auto's get hung up. The Yugo SKS gets the gas turned off, turning into a straight pull bolt. Which makes it much easier to find brass. Semi's would be held for home defense use...

GhostHawk replied to a thread Hulls in Casting for Shotguns
I cheated, I found a sale for Rio primed hulls at BPI for 7 to 9 cents each in 100 count bags. I stacked. Then I found wads that would work for 1 oz shot loads, buckshot, and slugs, and I stacked again. And I have an 8 lb jug of promo that is just...

JB I think you and I are probably pretty close on this subject. My rule for sleeping well at night is 300 rounds of loaded ammo, in MTM boxes, on the table for each caliber. Now there are a few exceptions. I do not have 300 rounds loaded for...

Lee flaring tool helps. Even a small flare on the very tip of the case neck gives you a slightly larger ring to help get the bullet started. Next I never take the press up until the bullet is sitting straight. Do whatever you have to do but...

I have 3 25 lb boxes of Range brass, in 9mm, .40sw and .45acp. The .45acp cost a bit more. The other two were 50$ for the box. I have yet to have a problem. But, I do go over my brass pretty carefully. I like to deprime with a Frankford...

Agree that the longer barrel is probably the easiest place to start. One thing to watch. When you pull the original barrel take careful note of which way the transfer port is. One side has a bigger hole than the other as I remember. As for...
