John, dies are typically sized .0008 or so under specified size, in order to allow for the varying final sizes of different alloys. lathesmith

That has more to do with your alloy. I would also make sure yourbases were powdercoated. Ithink water dropped wheel weight would be sufficient with full coverage powdercoating.

Check this page out. The 9R is loaded shorter with a lighter projectile to fit in Glock style mags. Its listed as a 39 grain projectile. NOE has 37, 39, 46, and 47 grain boolits that are much shorter, all gas check designs. If you are powder coating...

I'd check if Redding made Creedmoor dies. Ive handled them, but never used them. They looked the quality part for sure.

I wonder if Dougguy could maybe ream that chamber to save the original barrel. It'd be a shame to have to rebarrel that old girl. Prolly cheaper to have it reamed too.

Just asking, but with a throat of .315, is it necessary to seat deeper for the rifle?

sigep1764 replied to a thread Very hard bullets in Cast Boolits
I might try softer boolits than Lyman no 2, but maybe harder than the 10bhn boolits. I doubt boolits that hard are obturating. Also you didn't mention what lube you were using or if you slugged the barrel or what you are sizing them at? What do the...

If it will chamber, Id size the 9mm to 358. But try some loaded to 357 and some loaded to 358. Then decide which has the best accuracy and no leading.

In 9mm, im a big fan of the Accurate 358 120B mold. Perfect copy of the Lyman 356402. It drops about 125 grains at .360. And it drops 5 at a time for some good production.

Seems Savage has had a run of tight chambers lately. My B22 FVSR was failing to extract even unfired cases. Went back to the dealer who sent it in. Savage had it back in three weeks and I've had over a thousand rounds through it since without a...
