45 Colt both standard and plus P, along with 44 mag. and special are all my 58 year old hands can stand. Very very little full power 44 mag. I like shooting a lot (75-150 rounds per range session) and recoil spoils a fun time. Ill be fine if I...

My cowboy and plinking load is 5 grains 700X and Lee’s 200 RF cast bullet. Red dot, promo and bullseye would also work so as to expand the case enough and not get sooty cases. I am guessing about 700 FPS and shoots very close to the sights in my...

I am using lyman’s 252435 51 grain round nose that has been discontinued maybe 15 years ago. They do from time to time show up on eBay and here. Was initially worried about sizing it but as cast it fits and functions in both a pre-war vest pocket...

Remember with the Italian clones ( and real Colts), you can hear and feel the traditional 4 clicks as you cock the gun with 1/2 clock loading. That’s important to many. But safely carrying all 6 loaded and easier open gate loading ( Ruger) is like...

I did this awhile back and still have a few of the cases as I can tell by the ring on the neck. They worked fine. If memory serves, I also inside neck reamed the necks. I believe most of them are gone now as I was shooting them in a match were it...

Bought a 43 egyptian for really cheap that looked like it rode on a camel for ever. But the bore is nice. Shoots as accurate as my new Remington rolling block in 45-70. 43 Spanish is easier to get dies, brass and a bullet mold for. I shoot...

The Swedish Mauser clips is what most use as they are forever reusable. The original US clips have a brass tab that soon breaks off. I have shot both CMP matches and other bolt action matches with the Swedish clips and they simply are the best.

Yep, I pretty much use 9 grains unique with 45 colt (454190) 10 grains with 44 mag. (429421) and 7.5 grains 44 special. I was using 9 grains with the 44 magnum but since I started shooting so many of the skeeter loads (7.5) in 44 special, I...

Yep, the Winchester 255 lead bullet is stated at about 850 FPS. You can go to about 9-950 within colt pressures with that bullet or lymans 454190. Plenty of power for most needs. True that be told I shoot far more lee 45-200 RF at 700 FPS with...

I am making ammo for a fellow shooters broom handle with shoulder stock. 5 grs. bullseye and remington’s 93 gr. bullet intended for the 30 Luger. Cycles perfect and is amazingly accurate.

Love the fit and shoot ability of my pre NJ ban marlin 60 (22” barrel and 18, yes, 18 shots). Can shoot a golf ball until it’s out of sight. $85 used a year ago. And now ammo is a little over $20 for a brick at Walmart. Life is good.

My reloaded 38 special and 380 acp, gets shot and reloaded, a lot. Which means my carry ammo gets into the cycle. Which means my carry ammo doesn’t get old. In fact when I shoot what was in the gun and the extras carried with it, I draw and fire...

Update. Gun is here and so are the cases. I made (1) truncated bullet from a 195 heel base bullet. Way too much time but I have a plan to make that easier. So I ran a .457 soft lead ball into a .401 bullet sizer. It makes a nice round nose...

During the last ammo shortage when 30-06, 308 and 223 was gone from the shelves, 30-30 was still there. If it had to do it, 30-30 will kill anything on this continent. 200 yards is my main range and a 170 grain lead bullet at 1600 FPS rings a 24”...

I was experimenting with red dot in 223 and 30-30 in my back yard for quiet ammo. I was using 311252 bullet (32 auto) for 30-30. Red-dot was more consistent than 231 when we got down to 3 grains or less. Meaning we starting sticking bullets with...

Great minds think alike as I was thinking the same. The colt number 3 should arrive about the same time the cases do. I have not seen any broken colt 41 unlike the Remington double, so maybe the navy arms smokeless didn’t cause any harm in them. ...

I think you would just do more work to where you are now. Often it takes more trial and error with 45 colt to get the out of box accuracy with 44 magnum. And I am a big fan of 45 colt owning more than I can count for now. But also a big fan of 44...
