smkummer replied to a thread .40/.44 Special in Special Projects
I like reading about other people tackling a project like this, not me. 38-40 is already here and was offered in the Ruger Blackhawk in the past with I believe an extra 10mm cylinder. I buddy of mine has both a .357 and 44 mag. Herter's power mag....

In my 20 lb. lee production pot, if the wheel weights are clean, they just go right in. I have about 300 lbs. of ingots right now, and since I am good on homemade shot for awhile, this will last at least 3 years. We deal with 2 big tire shops. ...

I am having excellent results with Lyman 311644 (190 grain) as cast and I seat the gas check with a lee 314 sizer so I doubt I am doing any sizing. I don't know if I ever slugged the bore but was aware of larger than normal 30 cal bores. That...

Outpost75 group is exceptional at 25 feet but that is with custom made ammunition using all available space including cylinder.chamber space. You can maybe get that at 15 feet with CCI shot cups in a 44 or 45. With a 38/357 AND using 9 shot, it...

I left Midland TX in 1996 for Indiana. Anyway, I cleaned a friends 552 ( had not been cleaned in 20 years) that looked like yours when we took it apart and it still worked about 95% of the time. He is now a sort of gun guy and knows guns need to...

I load that same load of 5.0 bullseye for a friend's broomhandle mauser and it functions perfectly and is very accurate. He shoots it with a shoulder stock. Right now I have a supply of factory Remington bullets for the 30 Luger that weigh 93...

9.3X62AL beat me to the punch, if you find a deal on a Colt MKIII trooper, its in the same size category as the L frames or GP100 and you can seat Lyman's 358429 in the crimp groove with the Colt, its worth a look. MKV troopers are the same action...

Yep, if not hunting polar bear, brown bear or Moose a cast bullet does everything and is a pleasure to shoot. I used to load for a friend's 71 Win. And either downloaded the 200 grain jacketed until I finally found Lyman's GC bullet.

Own both, killed dear with both. If I had to get a deer that day, the 30-30 is what I would grab. Less guessing on hold over for that shot past 125 yards. While 30-30 has an edge on power, the 44 hits with a smack you can hear at a distance.

I don't know if you can beat the accuracy of Lee's 45 200 RF bullet of which I use for cowboy action shooting in both revolver and rifle. 4.8 grains 700X should be about 700 FPS in a revolver and 900 in the rifle. Accurate enough and with fun...

I found some 32-40 ammo for a friend of mine and noticed the factory rating of 1440 FPS for an original loading and 1750 for a high velocity loading of its 165 grain bullet. Those specs. are similar to .357 handgun and .357 rifle velocity specs. ...

This has only happened to me once. Colt single actions in both 45 Colt and 44 special. I noticed the ammo sounded "funny". Upon extraction, sure as heck, swelled 44 special cases fired in a 45 Colt cylinder. No damage to gun. For awhile...

then switching to the jacketed loads in the .22-250, I became aware all over again how astonishingly flat the trajectory of the latter cartridge actually is. I have some 3/8" AR 500 steel plate that will stop 30-06 and 308 jacketed bullets at...

If the barrel on your Egyptians looks good, you may want to reconsider. Mine shoots a .451 sized lyman 457124 (385 grains) wonderfully. I size this in 2 steps first with a .454 sizer and then a .451. 13 grains unique. Using reformed 32 gauge...

The only way a class three dealer is going to pay 22K each for these is if they are transferable. Asking prices on Colt Thompsons is over 40k if they are in good condition with a 1921 as the highest. If they are a Savage or Bridgeport Thompson (....
