I agree with Rosewood, if electronic/optical shooting accessories are a crutch, then the firearm itself is one too, and it's hypocritical to dismiss one technology over the other. Some people need to reign-in their self-righteousness. If it's...

I found a virtually new Bolton ZA45PD 9.5" x 32" benchtop mill with power-feed and DRO locally for $2000 on Craigslist. It came with a pile of tools, 4" vice, granite surface plate, two 6" angle plates, a few 1-2-3 blocks, 3 German-made keyless...

There's at least 4 now. Sako Vixens/A1/L46/L461 (very nice, out of production and expensive) Howa 1500 Mini (current production, barreled action is quite nice, suspiciously similar design to Sakos , but cheap plastic furniture) CZ 527 (current...

Fcvan, I envy the time you have to devote to brass cleaning. I know I couldn't follow your protocol.

They don't have to look pretty so long as they're clean (enough) and accurate. Pic below is after 5 years and 30 reloads of full pressure jacketed rounds: I induction anneal, toss them in some plain corncob to get the dirt off and neck...

Yes, The proportion I referenced was to mean that once zeroed, .5 MOA 'clicks' could be calibrated by using the actual sight radius versus the 28" standard e.g. a 23.75" actual vs a 28" baseline would be a ~18% more or ~.6 MOA instead of .5 MOA. ...

Seems that knowing the threads per inch on the elevation screw and the sight radius should be sufficient to figure out what's going on at range. If your rifle is not a 28" sight radius (per W.R.Buchanan's post), then a longer sight radius will...

There's a local store here with 5 x 50 bags of .223 WSSM for 37 per case, new production. If you're going to convert something, it's pretty easy to neck up and fireform that last 2˚ on the shoulder for the 6mm flavor. I have some FC .223 WSSM I...

Induction annealing works great in my experience. With my homebrew setup I can manually do about about 300 .223 Rem cases in ~20 minutes or about 150 WSM cases in about the same time. I used to use a deep-socket, a hand drill, a propane torch and...

While you're at it check the case weight extreme spread. Depending on what you're doing with the Magnum cases, that can lead to velocity spread issues and point-of-impact changes. Nobody's perfect but I did get a couple extra bags of brass after...

I'm looking to try either the HP or the FN version of this: Naked, unsized and plain base preferred but not a requirement. Let me know what you have. Thanks.

I have a .35 Rem that the patch does not come off reliably and accuracy is poor. I have been meaning to use a different patch material but I have not gotten around to it yet. I have another .510" wildcat that'll do 505gr @ 1850fps and it blows...

For the bucket method, I'd cut out the lid of the bucket to hold a thin sheet of heavy cardboard or lightweight plywood. Put a plug of the same OD made from the Sunday paper behind the plywood to fill in around the bullet holes and catch any sand...

I agree with shopdog about the steel and concrete method. I made a 27" x 72" x 32" tall table that's about 750lb for about $250 in steel and 7 bags of redi-mix concrete; there's some scrap iron in there too to make sure it won't float away. ;) I...

Late follow-up: I got a "new old stock" Casio HR-8TM printing calculator for $10 online and the mechanism swap was as described. A little solder and voila. Prints faster than before and no longer has feeding failures (for now).
