You have some good ideas there. Most of what you suggest should work fine. Just make sure you size the boolits properly for your barrel. The only problem I see is, I believe you may be a bit optimistic on the velocity you can get with 147 grain...

I had an issue with delayed ignition with IMR3031 in a lightly loaded 45-70 cartridge years ago. I had several delayed ignition and a couple of failures to fire. On disassembly, the primer had fired but the powder did not ignite. There were...

I am not the expert on this topic. That is why I posted the link to someone else's post. My best answer is just my opinion and worth what you paid for it. The published minimum loads should be safe to use. If there is a problem, you would need to...

I try not to load anything I cast for at least a week. I normally use range scrap and water quench from the mold. It takes a few days for it to get as hard as it will get. I will size as soon as I can. Hopefully within 24 hours. The stuff gets...

If you are looking for help to stop purchasing guns, you may have come to the wrong place. We are some of the worst enablers in the universe when it comes to buying guns. Personally, I would suggest you purchase as many and a varied guns as you can...

tazman replied to a thread Neck size .300 Savage in Cast Boolits
You could also do it the old fashioned way. Back in the days before specialty dies we would simply unscrew the sizing die a little bit so that it didn't contact the case body and sized only the neck portion. This still works. Collet dies are nice...

I assume the rust impinges on the bore at least a little causing an imperfect crown. Or is it inside the bore at the muzzle? If it is the former, getting the barrel re-crowned would probably be best. For the second, I have no good idea or...

A couple of years ago, I picked up a Remington 700 long action that I used to do something similar. I just used a different caliber/cartridge. Yours is somewhat prettier than mine.

tazman replied to a thread Cast 9MM keyholing in Cast Boolits
If a particular boolit design needs to have everything perfect all the time in order to work properly, why not go to a different design that has proven to work in many different guns without all the hassle and experimenting? Some folks want results...

Take your time and let them wait for you. If you get everything loaded up, you will have to go shooting before you can load again.

Those old model 60 S&W revolvers are good guns. I have one in 38special that sports at 3 inch barrel and adjustable sights. I like the idea of DAO for some carry situations but not all.

How long has it been since the boolits were cast? The longer you wait, the harder it will be.

I hadn't thought of using a tool bag. That opens up things considerably. I have some time this afternoon. I think I will go to a couple of large hardware stores and see what they have.
