I have to wonder how much, if any, their opinions would have shifted if they had all the new, quality optics and rifles/cartridges that have been made available the last 10-15 years?

Back in the late 60s and all the 70s my father, who ran an auto salvage business, used S&K wrench sets. They had a lifetime warrantee. I took a couple of them back to a dealer when they broke. I was using a 2 foot cheater bar on the end of a...

The company I retired from after 42 years, made the ball pein hammers for Snap On the entire time I worked there. They had a lifetime guarantee that we backed up. I assume they still do since it was a point of pride for the company. The company...

Congratulations. I believe you will enjoy it. I paid about that for mine and it isn't in as good shape as yours.

I was a member of a pistol club in Macomb Il for a short time. We shot some target matches(slow, timed, and rapid fire). I once took a 44 mag Blackhawk and shot it during the match. It was all one handed. I almost didn't have time to finish the...

Mine is wonderfully accurate. I can't comment about the sights. My eyes don't work that well anymore.

Kroil is your friend for things like this. Spray it liberally and allow it to soak. It may fall off easily after that. Kroil will work it's way into the space between the frame and side[late even though it looks like there isn't any space there. It...

It was a polyurethane with hardener. You can duplicate by using filler first, then coats of poly until you get the desired gloss. Make sure and get gloss and make sure it is exterior rated or it will weather check. Worked for me, anyway.

I have a similar issue with certain types of ammo in my S&W 22A. Keeping the slide well lubed helps. It isn't a cure for poor ammunition though.

If you are loading maximum loads you need to back down and work up again. If you are loading midrange or light loads, you probably wouldn't notice any difference. A couple of times, I had to use magnum primers because I ran out of standard and when...

If you will check, most of the data is fired from a test barrel that isn't vented like a revolver and, in the case of Hodgdon, the test barrel is 10 inches long. You may not get the velocity you wish with a 6 inch revolver barrel. That said, the...

Around here they were called Smythons. Target shooters claimed the faster twist shot better, particularly at longer distances. The S&W action would last longer than the Colt between tunings when under constant use. Kind of the best of both worlds.

The XDM series of pistols was designed to feed any boolit shape. I have one in 45ACP and it works with anything. There was a design flaw in the original XD series that caused anything with a sharp shoulder to fail in the 45ACP models. They work...

I have worked with 3 different Blackhawks, 2 GP100s, a couple of Mark IIs, and two single sixes, all with less than stellar to pitiful performance. I also had a couple of model 77 rifles that were mediocre shooters. I currently own a Security six...

I agree. There is something about a ventilated rib on the barrel of a handgun that radiates meanness.

I went to the indoor range today with my S&W 22a pistol(22lr) and the Aguila pistol match ammo I picked up a while back. It functioned the S&W flawlessly and shot very good groups. The extra kick it had over the rifle match made it function very...

In my revolvers, the 358311 shoots better groups at 50 yards than any other boolit. Others are very close but they always get edged out. At closer distances, there is little, if any, difference in group size. If I were hunting or shooting at two...

I own an early 50s K38 Target masterpiece. It is what eventually became the model 14. I also own an early 60s model 14. In all truth, I can't tell any difference between them in how they shoot or feel. To look at them side by side, you can't tell...
