I currently own 3 Taurus PT92 pistols in 9mm. They all run flawlessly. The only thing I dislike about them is the depth of the rifling in the barrel. It is a bit too shallow to grip cast boolits well so accuracy with cast is an iffy proposition....

I put together a great 12 pellet 000 buckshot load in a Cheddite 3 inch hull with blue dot that shoots outstanding. Shooting it in a Mossberg 590 shockwave

After all the descriptions, I can see how it would happen. I am glad it hasn't happened to me yet. I would be concerned.

I would try starting just below the starting load for a 147 grain boolit and see how that worked. When I used AA7 with that boolit, I used the starting charge for a 147 grain boolit and it worked fine. I load that boolit to a OAL of 1.150.

I have never heard of this or experienced it. I wasn't aware it was even possible. It sounds like the cylinder isn't locking up properly.

I used a monocular for a couple of years during my archery tournament days. The biggest problem seemed to be getting the thing lined up on target quickly. It takes some getting used to.

Since you like to tinker, you could make full match grade ammunition. Go the whole route with weighing cases as well as individual charges and bullets. Measure the runout on the loaded rounds to make sure every bullet is perfectly aligned. Trim...

tazman replied to a thread is .360 too big? in Cast Boolits
If you have good accuracy and no leading you should be home free. The powder charge you mention is not an issue as it isn't over max yet provided you are using 158-160 grain boolits in 357 magnum brass. It is possible you might benefit from a...

The other two have match grade barrels with tight chambers designed for specific bullets. Not the fault of the gun. They could easily be throated so they would work with anything. I just don’t need to do that.

I have always believed that the 9mm was effectively a 38 special in disguise as a semi-auto cartridge. When you compare the two using similar loadings, they are very close. They were initially designed for different bullet weights. With the newest...

I have to disagree here as well. The success I have achieved with the Lee FCD(not the collet crimper, the one with the carbide ring) speaks for itself. I don't have leading issues. I don't have accuracy issues. The consistency of my ammunition has...

There is a ton of data for that powder/cartridge combination available on the Hodgdon data site. Loads listed with nearly every boolit/bullet weight imaginable. It appears to produce very good velocity numbers with the 45ACP. I personally have no...

For your first question, there is no pressure increase in a 9mm cartridge due to being fired in a carbine as opposed to a handgun. The loads are the same. The only difference you will have is a velocity change due to the difference in barrel...

I have an older(2001)Alliant manual that lists Red Dot loads for 9mm 125 grain lead. No designation of nose shape was listed. The OAL is listed as 1.150. The max powder charge is listed as 4.5 grains. It claims a velocity of 1145 fps from a 4 inch...

Unless the powder is particularly dense(AA7,Titegroup), you will find that most 9mm charges pretty much fill the case to the bottom of the boolit. Slightly compressed charges are not at all unusual for this cartridge. The 9mm case is small enough...

I use the Lee FCD on all my handgun loads. Apparently I have been lucky and managed to acquire dies that only size the case when things are substantially too large. The large majority of my loads never get touched on the sides by the die. It simply...

My handguns don't lead with my cast boolit loads so I never clean the barrels. I clean the actions and cylinders where powder fouling will build up after each range session, but the barrels never get cleaned. I make sure of boolit fit and I tumble...
