I don't currently, own a 44 of any stripe. Experience has taught me that my wrists cannot handle the recoil of high pressure 44 loads(arthritis). Also, for personal reasons, I will not load a low pressure cartridge beyond what it is designed to do...

I have been sitting here thinking and wondering about something and came up with a question I haven't seen asked on this site. It may not interest everyone but here goes. 44 Special vs 45 ACP Both fired in revolvers with the same length barrel....

The ones designed for the 30-30 will open up faster on impact. The fun part is when you hit a deer at 300+ yards the bullet will still do a great job of expanding.

Was at a gun show this morning in Aledo Illinois. I was looking at the various stuff on the tables when I noticed several 100 count boxes of CCI 22 longs on the table. They were marked $10 per box. I went a few tables over and there were another few...

A close friend from the gun club died, will be 2 years in May, and I helped his widow appraise his guns for sale. She had pretty good luck selling them but decided to send the last of them to auction. She called and asked if there were any of the...

I am watching that press with interest. It has features that I am used to already such as the safety prime. The price point is good too. I am waiting a bit to see how well users feel about it after some time with it. I have in laws near there. I'll...

Any brand new press you have to fix before it will work properly isn't made right to start with. If you have to prime off the press you are losing the speed advantage the progressive press was intended to provide. I have owned both the Lee...

That 38/357 mag cartridge combination is just as effective now as it has ever been. A 6 inch model 19 is a great gun to have in your hand for just about any purpose. Kind of like a handgunners version of the 30-06.

Those of you using even very fine abrasives need to rethink that a bit. If you use those abrasives very often on the front of your cylinder, you will, over time, be creating a larger cylinder gap and cause a drop in velocity on that account....

The ones that destabilized at 50 yards were not going or spinning fast enough. When they are going faster and spinning faster they will be accurate farther out. I don't know what the distance limit would be.

Since we are talking about revolvers here, we are not constrained by the needs of a cartridge to fit inside a magazine. We can seat to whatever OAL is most useful for our needs. The onlu restriction is that the nose of the wadcutter must fit inside...

I see a lot of complaints about Thunderbolt ammunition. In rifles and semi-auto pistols I could maybe see a problem. I use it in my S&W 617 where it works fine for practice. It isn't the most accurate ammunition for this revolver but is adequate....

Currently, your revolver is a shooter. That isn't going to change just because you have it re-blued. If you want it to look nicer, have it re-blued and enjoy.

I own 3 Taurus PT92 pistols and they are all utterly reliable. They should be, given the pistol they are based on. I like the Taurus safety better than the one on the Beretta 92. It works the same way as my 1911 does so I don't have to think about...

I agree. I have a model 15 with a 4 inch barrel and it feels just as you describe. The model 19 I used to have felt the same way. I think any of the K frame revolvers are like that. I still won't give up my 686 revolvers.

I owned a 6" model 19 back in the day. I shot it a lot. Nearly all 38 special but enough 357 mag that the forcing cone cracked at the bottom where it was thin. I assume they changed that for the new ones but since I haven't seen one, I don't know....

The Hodgdon data site has PB data listed for the majority of boolit weights 38 special, 45acp, 45 colt, and 9mm. I didn't look to see if thee were any more cartridges with data for PB.
