    The little spring-loaded tap guides are handy. I have one and will use it when I only have 1 or 2 holes to tap and run-out isn't that critical. If close tolerances on concentricity/run-out need to be maintained, I do it like bangerjim describes....

    I use the Clear Ballistics synthetic gel. Got two 24 inch blocks and two molds. It is resuable. Not too expensive. Just add a crock pot and you good to go casting gel blocks. Fun to use
