I got out some old handloads, using J words, 85 gr Sierra Game kings, moly coated in Federal nickel plated match brass, I usually load a hundred at a time with some 3031 stoking behind it. The wife has taken 31 deer with this load, from 35-270 yds...

If you want a heavy, I like my NOE 115 gr kieth style mould a lot. The most recent issue of Handloader has an article with a ton of loads for all bullet weights, many +P loads to take advantage of the stout Ruger single six.

Both of those are great choices, but I would go with a 7x57 Mauser, had one in this caliber and regret selling it. No recoil shooting factory ammo or handloads, shot flat and around 1&1/2 inch groups at 100yds!

Look on the post here on this forum, where they are asking about powder measure, etc for BH 209, one or two spaces away, Metricmonkeywrench posted some pics of speedloaders, which you put your conical in nosefirst, in the bottom, then open the top...

Metricmonkeywrench, you put the bullet/sabot combo, or conical in the bottom of the carriers you show, bottom facing down, pop open the top and pour your powder down the barrel, then poke the bullet/sabot or conical out the bottom with your short...

I have one in .223 and .243. They both had triggers that were a little gritty and broke at #4 or so. I could live with the triggers, as they both shot very well, with iron sights, out to 150yds. I did take the gun apart, and with a little judicious...

is that the same thing as what they call the scorpion? it sure looks like it!, that has been the number one gun on my "have to have it or I might die!" list for a long time, I believe the bad guy in die hard 1 used a scorpion, that and I love 32...

I do believe that's the same one I have, except mine is aluminum and 2 cavity, with no HP it weighs 275gr as cast, with an alloy of about 2.5%sn/2.5%sb. I load it over a charge of 21.5gr of 296, and it will penetrate any animal on the continent, I...

Dang nice shooting with a #1 and cast bullets. I have always pined after a No 1 in 7x57 or 6.5x55, with a different configuration, not the manlicher type that I see them made in, a #1B would be perfect. Guess I will have to settle for my 98 Mauser...

Great! I had a mint condition 7mm RB once, and made a new pinned front sight, out of a silver dime, to file down and get it zeroed. I shot it with factory loads, handloads and some Kynock nickel jacketed stuff from Navy Arms, all without any issues....

Friday about 12 noon, I picked up a buddy and we went to the range, to zero several guns and just have a blast. Beautiful weather, sunny and 72, and our bolt actions were all shooting teeny, tiny groups at 100 yds, the lever actions were the last...

reals and similar projectiles may be slower, but hold their energy down range much better than a ball. I am using a cva Hawkins perc. in 50 caliber, and am getting very good accuracy with the 320 gr lee REAL, I just ordered a hi-viz front sight for...

I’m thinking bout buying the issue but want to know if there are any loads for 115 cast in there. I’ve used a h110 load of 10.0 grains Pierce wrote about some time ago and really like it but who doesn’t want options.

You will have plenty of power no doubt! Lowering the element may also make the hearing characteristics of the pot more uniform which helps your pid operate more precisely. Probably not a big deal though. Nice build for sure.
