I came across this very interesting story from nearby Wilmington NC during the American Revolution. Seems one Col. Thomas Bloodworth was well known to British troops and neither one would miss a chance to antagonize the other, Bloodworth now being...

There were a few such drones in supervisory or admin positions at my shop, too. They were ignored with enthusiasm. My shop's deputies always got on well with CHP at Indio and Banning. We monitored each others' radio traffic in our units, and...

They won't have the same net result. That's *why* we throat them, so you CAN use a .452" which since it is .001" bigger than groove diameter, forms a better seal in the bore than the same boolit sized .451" The .452" will generally always work...

Just make sure they chamber easily. Sometimes the ogive can enlarge, or with the addition of Powder coat, the nose of the boolit may engrave the rifling and make chambering a round difficult. I sometimes file off the tip on a couple of...

I don't think that's throated, as it has rifling running right down to the headspace ledge, there is zero freebore. If I had pin gages in that barrel, I am certain that it would be found to be a sufficient diameter to allow the SWC round as...

Ok I give up. I lay out all the knowledge and add photos to it and you want to size smaller. There is a reason people use .452" boolits ALMOST 100% because if .451" worked there never would have been these myriad threads about leading in a 1911,...

Being a pipewelder by trade I keep a couple tubes of Burn Gel around, you get this stuff at CVS or Target or Wallyworld, I keep one at home, one in my gangbox, etc. Works wonders. Another trick that works REALLY REALLY GOOD is brake fluid! ...

The Kahr I have wouldn't reliably shoot the Hornady Critical Defense round. I had a couple of them that went click, primer dented but no ignition, it was actually seating the round further into the chamber and shoving the JHP bullet into the...

The reason people are (possibly) paying that much for powder is because if you don't have it, this is likely the last chance you have to get ANY. It will from now on, never get back to "normal". Hope I am wrong but pretty sure I'm not.

I spent a significant portion of my career years in agricultural areas, and though the Penal Code re 487 PC et al got modified, it was still a patchwork that continued special status to agricultural crimes. Two of the most powerful bodies of law in...

Yes but you are seated well down in the case. You couldn't use published data without compensating for the shorter COA. I have a LOT of satisfied users on this forum who have had barrels throated and to date not one complaint or report of accuracy...

You guys are KILLING yourselves with these NO THROAT barrels! SAAMI specs call for some freebore. J.M. Bowning designed the 1911 with freebore in the throat. Modern manufacturers couldn;t be bothered to ream freebore into the barrel as long as it...

I have the Lee 358-105-SWC mold. Do you know what diameter you'd need them sized to? I can size them to .356, .357 or 358. I can make them lubed or PCd or leave them unsized if you'd prefer to lube-size/PC them yourself. Ed <><

When you say "for a Lyman press", are you saying you want a push-through die to use in the same press you load ammo on, or that you want an H&I set for a lubrisizer machine? Ed <><
