Glad to hear that it arrived. This problem seems to be getting more common.

When I trade or sell brass I deprime it so that this does not happen to the other party.

Same thing here. Too much trouble for the rewards. Mine were 9mm. And I suspect moisture was the cause.

I'm not sure what I would do in this situation. But looking forward I would develop a routine to avoid this problem in the future. Only one powder on the bench at a time and full concentration.

Thats a nice looking job. I like the fixture you made to position the handles.

I'm another that has no idea. Between the load ammo, the bullets that are lubed and the unlubed bullets, I have no clue. It would be easier to say how many jugs full.

When I retired and rolled my 401 plan over to a different institution my financial advisor suggested for me to consult an estate planning attorney and to get an insurance policy to cover stuff like this. I sort my brass by headstamp, but I often...

You got more lead than I thought you would. I've jokingly said that a 5 gallon bucket of Dental film would make an ingot! :drinks:

Some things add up slowly. Sometimes we have to compare the end result to the required effort and decide if its worth while. Need can help make this decision. 2 weekends ago me and another member melted the lead from a truck load of pole top...

A co-worker started making calls after he retired. A Duck call is small enough that it does not get the full benefit of a nice grain like a gun stock does. Walnut comes out kind of plain. He ordered a lot of exotic tropical wood. Ebony was popular...

It will work ok. Rather than doing that I just stack some ingots on my hot plate. Before I had a hot plate I stacked them around the rim of my casting pot.

I've not seen much difference between the collet type pullers. I have the RCBS and it works ok on rifle bullets and on the longer jacketed pistol bullets. Not so well on shorter bullets or on cast bullets with a heavy crimp. If the bullets that you...

It depends on the brand and the bullet type/weight. A 2 cavity Lee won't go for as much as a 2 cavity Lyman or RCBS. A nice H&G will fetch a premium. A bullet thats not as common as it once was, like a 38 full wad cutter, won't bring as much as...

Have you used that mold before and gotten good bullets? Did you have a slushy oatmeal looking stuff floating on top of the molten lead?

I use a homemade burner and I don't know the BTU output. I think it around 500,000 because its built like a weed burner that has that rating. Your new 200,000 BTU burner should do the job.

I'm sorry that your lead got mixed up but its hard to fault good intentions. This kind of stuff makes a good argument in favor of permanently marking your ingots. I have only recently started doing this. I wish all of mine were marked.

Sometimes the required effort to recover is more trouble than its worth. Steel plate recovery is for me. The plate rack at our range pretty much destroys the bullet and all we find is dust. But it depends on how bad you need lead and how much time...

With range lead you never know. The stuff in your picture looks cleaner than that. Even though you're disappointed you will get about 700# of ingots from the stuff in your picture. Thats not bad!

You really don't have to let it dry as long as you put it in a cold pot before you light the burner. The moisture will cook out before the lead melts. But you are right, never add it to a pot holding molten lead.
