I enjoy sharpening knives with an Arkansas stone. I use DMT diamond sharpeners too with good satisfaction. I only use a carborundum stone for every dull knives, or between filing and an Arkansas stone. I like sharpening this way, the old way. ...

I had the wife batter and fry some thin pieces of the backstrap and it was better but not great. I put a round roast in the crock last night. Was good this morning for breakfast. I'm going to cook some steaks over fire, so I'll test a piece...

I once had an apache model nylon 66 that was unfired. I bought it off a friend that bought it new. It was about 2 weeks before I fired it. I had a colt junior in 25 acp that was unfired too, about a day or so. Both jammed and I traded them...

Thanks for the replies. Everyone says backstraps are the best but I've never liked them. I don't like the texture mostly. I wouldn't say they are gamey or wild tasting, that's words I'd reserve for bad deer meat. The neck roast I made, tasted...

I cut a piece and had the wife cook it with onion like steak. Kinda mushy, didn't get no smaller with chewing, too flavorful for my taste. I don't like the flavor of deer if it's the least bit strong. I remove all fat and as much connective...

We like garlic pepper seasoning for meat. Only place we've seen it is dollar general. It's good as a rub on steak both beef and venison.

Thanks for the update. I've never tried one, but I'd like to have a 444 marlin. Kind of a middle ground between the 44 mag and the 45/70. Course I'd like a marlin 1894 too. I ain't hard to please long as it has a lever on it's belly.

I'm a loyal Dillon customer. Their presses work well without having to be tinkered with and you have that famous Dillon support if you ever need it. I kind of always wanted a Star, just because, but I doubt that I will ever get one.
