Just finished depriming 2 20mm ammo cans of 9mm's that I started on last week. The whole time I had the tumbler running. I wet tumbled the 223's, 30-30's, 308's, 30-06's, 40's, 44's and 45's that I deprimed earlier this month and got them sorted and...

Ebay used to prohibit more than they do now in way of gun parts. Sometimes you can find good stuff on there. Pends on what you're looking for of coarse. I bought my Lee hand press on off ebay. I wanted a non breechlock version. Also if you want...

I bought a used 110 recently and called savage to get a replacement extractor spring. The guy didn't charge me anything and sent me the whole bolt head rebuild kit. I told him I bought it second hand.

I've got a lot of small wood from work that's just right. I'm thinking now about making a smaller setup to use with the Lyman cast iron pot. It'll be interesting to see if I can regulate the temperature enough to keep the mould at a good temp.

My friend and fellow member "Biggin" just had Eric remove the bevel on a H&G 68BB mold. The workmanship looked great but I don't know if he has cast with the mold yet. Maybe he will see this and add a comment. Tom at Accurate Molds will make a...

I've never smelted using wood. I've always liked the convenience of natural gas or propane. If I lived in the country and had an abundant wood supply I would try it.

That is a nice score. I hope your yield holds up as well as mine have been. I always sort my weights. I don't trust the heat building up in the bottom of the pot.

lightman replied to a thread Ingot mold size in Casting Equipment
I like the Lyman style molds. If I had not found several at a gun show really cheap I would build some. Angle iron works well. Something about 1-1/2 X 1-1/2 works well. A length that fits in a small flat rate box is a favorite length. You don't want...

One of these days when I'm in the notion I'll test my 31141 and see if I can detect any difference. Is there any moulds that are not cut with CNC machines today?

My initial thought on this is I'm right at the limit of pressure for either my alloy or lube. I'd much rather change lube than alloy, but as I said it's not an issue so I'm not looking to change, just trying to understand it better. Thanks for...

I never separated mine, just smelted it all together. My range had a lot of bullseye shooters and the scrap contained a high % of cast with a small mix of jacketed and 22 rimfire. Smelted together, it made a decent alloy. A lot of it got caked into...

I would expect those 22's to be soft. I would take several plastic buckets, a 2 wheel dolly, a flat point shovel and some kind of screen on a frame. And a dusk mast. Every trap is different. I used to mine one that was about as high as a bullseye...

I've always tried to go by the rule not to melt something if it was worth more than the scrap value. New decoy weights, new wheel weights and factory made dive weights are a few things I won't melt. I'll give these away before melting them. But I'll...

I'm getting a little less than 2"s at 70 yards. Factory federal does a little better. I got the best accuracy with 30 grains but at 32.5 my trajectory is where I want it to be. My factory federal is sighted 2" high, the 32.5 is dead on, and the 30...

Hmm hadn't thought of either of those. It hasn't caused me any grief but I've got some other lubes I'm going to try for comparison. Namely NRA 50/50, and 45/45/10. I've never tried 50/50 but I've run LLA in my rifle but can't remember how it did.

I noticed when I shot my winchester 94 30-30 the other day I have a gray haze in the last 3-4 inches of my bore. It's always like that except for an instance I loaded and shot someone else's bullets that was a harder alloy and with I'm guessing...

Deprimed a couple thousand more 9mm's. Tumbled the 30-30's, 308's and 30-06's that I deprimed last week. I also tumbled something new. A buddy came over with a Styrofoam coffee cup full of corroded and gummed up coins. The kind of stuff you find...
