Thanks for all the replies. I've not read them all yet but will soon as I have some quiet time to think on it. When I say Ruger only loads I do not mean the linebaugh loads that are at a completely different level. I don't have a Ruger in 45...

I think if you was to screw the bushing/screw/grip back in the frame with some loctite on the bushing, after it dries you could remove the grip screw. Country gent got it out first.

I've killed a few deer with my 44 using a Keith type SWC cast from wheel weights. Carefully culled, my cast shoot as well as factory JHP's.

Has anyone here ever taken elk, moose, or bear with 45 colt? Did you use the standard loading or the Ruger only loads? You mostly hear about 44 mag or larger for these larger game animals but I'm curious as to the 45 colts usage.

I'm only mildly allergic to it thankfully. If I get it, it don't itch bad, and only makes a few watery bumps, and don't spread rampantly. I often will have some and not realize it till the wife points out a few bumps. Funny story, the wife...

Bazoo started a thread Free 7mm-08 brass in Helping Hands
I have run across some 7mm08 brass. 45 pieces, I think it's all winchester headstamp. Came from a yardsale and had 10 pieces loaded that I disassembled. Will include those bullets. These were reloads and had some data on a sicker with them but I...

Listened to some 60's and 70's music while I sorted through and processed a tub of range brass and removed the crimps on the crimped cases. Then I sorted through a quart can of wheel weights that a buddy brought over. Only found 3 zinc weights and...

Thats a nice score. The broken ears are a good sign! Lino-type is hard enough to be a little brittle and seeing broken ears is pretty common. The ears probably would not have broken on soft lead. We have a member here, BNE, that will test lead...

The whole point of a lee loader, least in my mind, is to take it outdoors, away from access to a press or vise.

I mildly clean. Normally if I run a brush a few times either dry or with remoil, sometimes with hoppes, mostly for chambers sake. By a few I mean no more than a dozen but often just a couple. Then I patch with remoil. Often I'll only patch with...

I have replaced the screws with the exposed heads with a piece of roll pin and a set screw. This makes them slide on the mold guide easier. I think the roll pin is 3/4L and 1/8 in diameter. The set screw is 10-32.

Well, a cartridge check gauge is normally at minimum chamber dimensions. A casing is going to be smaller than that. But you don't know how much smaller so you need something as a base to start for making a no go. You could measure to the...

Vettepilot, if you had a cartridge check gauge for the caliber, I'd think you could use that and shim out the head to make a no go gauge.

I understand what you mean. Hands on learning helps a lot. I have a lyman FL hand die for 30-30. Like a lee loader, but was an accessory to the 310 tool system. I use it occasionally as it sizes the case up to the rim.
