Hatch - Bugger..... Hopefully you caught it soon enough to not waste too much time or materials. That plate is pretty much the exact same design i came up with for my home made one. I just have more tweaking to do to get the grooves in the right...

I wonder if that is because they didn't feel the market for nose down was high enough? I know most would want base down for feeding a loading press instead of a sizing press....

That is understandable...... a bit long of a stroke to do with a motor and lever i guess? If you lowered the pivot point i guess it could be done. Shame a lineat actuator is so slow, and probably get too hot.

That is pretty much the same setup as i came up with when i looked at mine today. Hopefully i will get a chance to do it on the weekend. See if it works for me.

If it works off a lever, can you not just use an air cylinder to stroke the handle? Flow restrictors to tame the movement of the cylinder. You can use a timer to control the solenoid.

Plate plinker - nice job, simple yet effective, do you have any videos of the "tracks" you cut in the base to direct the nose down one to fall and the base down to keep going and flip?

My father in-law does the same with his robot vacuum, he sits and watches it, trying to predict it's path :)

I wish i had a 3d printer, i'm sure the poor thing would run 24/7 making all sorts of things :) Looking forward to seeing it in action when your parts arrive.

Tazza replied to a thread Basic 125gn 9mm staging die in Swaging
that's quite neat. I was wondering how i'd go with trying to swage 9mm projectiles instead of casting. I think casting may be faster though, and he lead i assume would need to be fairly soft, so it may suit low speed guns.

Polar hunter, you had the exact same thought as i did. You get a motor and you get an included gear box that you can adjust the torque as needed.

Looking forward to seeing how these come out. I'm a cheap SOB too, but it is what it is. The more money i save on one thing, means i can buy more gun related things :)

Red is the only colour on my loading bench. I only load pistol rounds, so nothing that really puts any strain in the machine. If i had the money i'd love to go blue, they are smooth, but my lee 1000 had loaded hundreds of thousands of rounds that...

I have an "old" unit, the frame is made of cast iron, i believe the new ones are aluminium? It didn't come with a cooling fan, but i don't know if that is because it was removed or if it was a later addition. Even after all those years, the pivot...

I know the SWC work, and are quite popular for IPSC as they cut neat holes. I run 125 con rn from Magma in my .38 super guns (STI 2011) with great results. They are probably the most popular size/shape at my local club.
