It could be shipped without a barrel and it would outshoot my Heritage. Really. Every $40 Raven .25 auto I had back in the day would out shoot my Heritage. Really. Surely you’re pulling our collective legs!

I couldn’t find that one on GB but there is a sporter stocked ( conventional walnut) 1941 Johnson on there and it has a starting bid of 5 grand as well.

I found an odd looking piece of brass on the ground at a CAS match that my friends competed in. It turned out to be a .44 WCF that had been fired in a .45 Colt. My buddy said " yeah, that happens sometimes." Okay..... Sent from my...

Use magnum primers or switch to Varget IMO. I use magnum primers for both of the ball powders that you mentioned. I haven't used much W748 but I've kept H335 on the shelf since it was $3.75 a pound. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk

I guess the zinc offsets the aluminium weight wise. I see "alloy frame" and I automatically think "light weight". I often overlook the obvious dang it. But I still can't wait to check one out. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk

The best fitting K frame grips I ever had were from a K38 that had been in a fire. They were scorched around the outside edges so I rasped and sanded them down till they fit my hand just right. On my first m15 they were a delight. Hindsight is 20/20...

Thanks for that link rfd. That clears up some questions for me. Zinc grip frame, aluminium frame, steel cylinder and barrel. It should make a nice light trail companion- I'm in. My Heritage will remain in the disassembled pile until I have nothing...

Amen, LAGS! I can’t see how the barrel can recoil to function the gun now. The Johnsons are recoil operated. If I wanted it- I don’t- I would just offer to repay the labor spent to build it. For 5 grand I could have a new Browning auto in .338WM...

That looks like a Bushnell Sportveiw 4X to me. Iv’e used them for years and I can’t remember a single problem. They had white writing on the left side that is easily removed/ worn off. Inexpensive? Yes. Cheap? No. My trusty Nylon 66 wears one now...

............. A long range match type rifle (Gibbs Type) built from a kit Pecantonica used to offer. The barrel is a Green Mountain 34" long 45 cal with an 18" twist. The original tang was too short for a vernier sight. I cut it off and...

Fixed sights are fine if they hit point of aim. I'm sure They'll be easier to see than the SAA type. I had two old fixed sight Single Sixes that were dead on with any high velocity. 22 LR ammo. They had dovetail rear sights but never had to tap...

I bought a older used walnut stocked one the day I turned 18. Nevermind what year. I loved that gun even with its creepy trigger. Till I scoped it and tested the accuracy from the bench. Then I knew why I was missing quite a few turtle heads. My...

Surely the cylinder is steel. If so I’ll get one to throw in the Mule. Ruger noticed how many inexpensive SA .22 revolvers Heritage sells perhaps? It won’t replace the Single Six in my heart and mind but I do see a use for it.

Most every litter of wild pigs will have one or two black and white, calico, or red in the bunch. There have been no pig farms around here since the 1970s and we still encounter some pigs other than black.

I’m headed out the back door for a walk right now. It’s going to take a minute to decide between the 510 or 581 Remington to accompany me. I learned to shoot with a Remington 511 of my Dads- on the farm BB guns were for training dogs

It wouldn’t be much different than shooting cast from a .204 Ruger. Doable but lots of 5mm jacketed bullets could be bought for the money required for a mould,.205” sizer, and gas checks. I’m a 22-250 nut-but I doubt I’ll ever cast for one. Just my...

Good on you for getting out for some fun, Paul. My brother once had a B78 30-06 that he delighted in outshooting our OCD friend’s Ruger #1V 22-250 with! That gun was amazing. I do remember him having to wash the West Texas sand from the trigger with...

I love the rook rifles but I’ve always been puzzled as to why the Brits needed cartridges bigger than the .22 rim fire to shoot crows?

Just the other day I cut around ten grains each from some loaded 38-55 boolits so I wouldn’t have to pull them. I loaded them slightly hot so this was a way to reduce pressure. You might say I hate pulling bullets/boolits too!
