I'd look for one of the old Winchester single shots.

waksupi replied to a thread Below Zero with Cast in Cast Boolits
I've not experimented with powder coat in cold weather, but I do know other lubes act different in cold conditions. Loads need worked up for the temperature difference.

I would melt one down and check the temperature it melts. That should give you a reasonable idea, and maybe cast and weigh a few bullets. I have one that is so hard, I've just used it as a door stop in the shop for years.

waksupi replied to a thread Elk hunting with 8mm in Cast Boolits
The 8mm is the incestuous little brother of the .358 win, and is one of the best cast bullet chamberings for North American hunting. I like the 220-230 weight. Drop me a pm to remind me, I may have a heavy mold I could part with.

Nice. Many of the high quality horns were made by black craftsmen.

waksupi replied to a thread Size before PC in Cast Boolits
I install gas checks and size before powder coat, and then may size them again afterwards, depending on the gun. If you are water quenching bullets, they may be harder than you want to run through a lubrisizer if you wait more than a day.

I get 2170 fps with a 290 gr. That's pushing past any factory loadings for power.

Just something about a peep sight. Oh, now I remember. I can hit better with a peep sight than any other open sight. I have a Remington Model 510 that came with standard sights. I'm seriously considering tracking down a peep sight for it. I have no...

RCBS and Dillon. They rule the roost in my personal experience. In the past 40 years, there have only been 3-4 times I've ever needed anything from either of them. They came through with flying colors every time. Two years ago after many...

waksupi replied to a thread Thoughts on my retirement in Our Town
It took me nearly a year and a half before I realized I don't HAVE to make or do something every day. I can sit and read, go fishing, camping, go visiting, or just poke around the property. I'm getting to like retirement more and more.

I agree the M70 safety is by far the best. Too bad they have got so darned expensive, I have one more rifle I need to convert.

Murf205, That Model 10. I'm a sucker for a Model 10 with a 4" pencil barrel. I can't think of a better, lighter packing, "I'll be needin' that for squirrels and such" pistol. Murphy
