It is my experience that the Lyman listed weights with the specified alloy is "as cast"....without GC or lube. My 375449 mould gives weights with #2 alloy at 265 gr.....one gr over what Lyman says with their #2 alloy......close enough for...

Yes it will feed the very long bullets used by the long range competitors out of a 308 length mag. With the .260 using the same long bullets the mag runs out of space.

Checked a uberti twist rate chart that states the 45 colt at .442-.450 with a 1 in 16 twist for there rifles. Suggest you actually measure the twist. Many early rifles had slower twists. Could be with the low end velocities and heavier bullets...

Pressures are measured with special equipment and test guns. It is expensive. Even with factory measured pressures there is no guarantee that, even if using the exact same components, you will get the same psi in your gun. It may be lower...

From my treatise on my 45-70 trapdoor loads; PART III: I had several reasons for developing duplex 45-70 loads. Maintaining accuracy w/o cleaning between shots or every 10 shots or so was foremost as I didn’t want to carry a lot of cleaning...

In the early 1900's it was very common for competition shooting. It greatly reduces fouling. Most BP competitions do not allow it today. http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?137201-Black-powder-duplex-loads

The Lyman SME receiver sight or the M48 sight fits the M96 as well as the M98 because the rear receiver ring is essentially the same ssize on both.

I concur that the RCBS 30-150-FN is an excellent lighter weight bullet in the 30-30, especially M94s with 12" twists. Your 300 Savage should also have a 12" twist and the RCBS bullets should be excellent. I was also using H4895 in my M94s with...

If you want a cast bullet that will, after zeroing, regulate to the range settings on the rear sight then the 311359 is the best choice. At 1850 fps it can do extremely well matching POI with the rear sight range settings to 300 yards.

"I think the twist rate is the killer." That would be correct. The "odd flyers" are the result of the bullet exceeding it's RPM Threshold. The first load at 1515 fps is running 136,350 rpm....The heavier loads are obviously pushing the RPM over...
