Tree rats ate through the top of the gas tank on my generator. Almost caused a house fire when I stated the generator during a night storm. Smelled the gas fumes eventually, but not after running it for awhile. I was lucky.

I would like to send a grab bag of bullets (and a few boolits, too) to the first "I'd like 'em." Must be a couple pounds of mostly .270 & .308 bullets, as well as couple .38/.357?'s in there. I didn't count 'em. Please make notice here and...

Don't know what alloy is used in the Cheap Shot, but I'd be surprised if it were pure. For me, I would not want a HP, but rather a pure lead boolit. Carries the weight and structure for good penetration and being pure lead, is hard to beat for...

This thread is several years old, but the topic never goes out of style. The last two or three Hoyt has done for me only took a few weeks. Re-line a #4 .22 roller, "refresh" and rusty gun show treasure, & some other machining. He hasn't slowed...

I live in humid central. I liberally coat all my steel molds with oil or fluid film (FF for longer term storage). I just have to degrease them prior to use. If I don't treat the molds, sure as can be, rust will appear.

Putting all the factors together; patch type & thickness, lube, charge, twist rate, sights, quality and hardness of the bullet, assembly consistency & shooting skills will determine the final accuracy. With the right stuff & technique amazing...

Also, there are the Williams Fire Sights. I put a set on one rifle. Fiber optic front sight and replacement rear peep sight where the original sight goes. Outstanding. Quick and easy on my antique eyes. That forward mounted peep is...

I worry about those who plan to carry a .38 for bear defense. Seems a might light for the encounter. If that's what you got, it's far better than an empty hand. The one boolit I would consider would be the "Bullet For All Seasons" in Glenn...

Seems I remember a long ~ ? 2" - 3" ? ~ bar afixed to the left side of the receiver, designed to slip a dovetailed scope base / ring set up on SKS's. It allowed you to slip a scope on and off. Never could find the base / ring part, even though I...

+1 for Bob Hoyt. He has done several for me and this week I'm going back to pick up two more. Very good mechanic in the re-bore / re-line world.

Der Gebirgsjager beat me to it. Nice holster. I like the bandalaro type for hunting. I'm trying to sign one for my Ruger LCP for very discrete carry.

Jkrem I'd check around various police departments for some of their old time gunsmiths. For a long time, the S&W wheel gun dominated the country and out there somewhere is a guy who knows these things inside out. KBO !

725 replied to a thread Ok for bear? in Hunting with CB's
Seems like your .30-06 w/ a 200 gr cast (assuming good alloy) @ 1900 fps would work well. Shot placement is critical and NORSKE has given very good advice about learning the innards of the black bear. What seems right from hunting deer, isn't...
