I had a Filson Tin Cloth Packer, in the Colorado High Country below 15 degrees it was like wearing a garbage can, the waterproofing just got stiff and hard in real cold. I've always liked the Filson, Woolrich and LL Bean Wool Coats, but they do...

I recently bought a Marlin 1895 Cowboy 45-70 through Bud's ($100 rebate) deal. It is as well finished or better than my other dozen plus Marlin's All are pre-safety but a 30-30 and a 218. I think the worst is the 30-30 with the safety built...

    My Marlin 336 - 32 Special - 24" barrel gives consistent 2" groups at 200 yards 16 grains 5744, 200 grain .323 boolit. I don't spend a lot of time looking for unburned powder.

I've got 300's, 308's, 243's, 303's, 358's and a couple of 284's, all Savage 99's of course -not a real collector - more of an impulse accumulator. I've got a couple 300's that will go MOA or better on good days. Benchrest technique is...

Shooter's Choice Lead Remover does work better than most solvents on lead, Lewis Lead Remover for really heavy leading is best or brass wool wrapped around a brass/bronze brush. JB's Bore Cleaner cleans powder fouling, copper and lead, JB's Bore...

I have a an RCBS 505, 20-30 years, not looking for another scale. Redding makes good stuff, $85 for a Redding #2 at MidwayUSA right now, but is a 5 grain separation. I like the 10 grain separation on the high end. It is easier to incorrectly...

Separate loads for everything - multiple 300 Savage 99's some have 308 length magazine others the 2.6" all shoot a little different. Same with 308's and 243's. Multiple 45 Auto's - different bullet weights and power factors based on pistol...

Have you de-greased the steel wool you are using before rubbing the finish? Most steel wool has protective oil on it. This oil can rub off onto your finish and cause streaking.

Sometimes, when using the fast pistol powder, other small charges in large rifle cases - 5-10 grains Bullseye, HP-38, Red Dot - a Magnum Rifle primer helps with consistency.
