Don't get lost in the weeds. Hardness today is not as critical as thought in the past. You can do hardness testing "on-the-cheeeeep" with a set of artist's pencils and the chard you can find on here. Do a search. Next best thing is a LEE...

Brings back memories! I used to buy SN soldier ingots at a local hobby store in Iowa when a kid. 50 each! A box of fifty 22LR's was 40 at the Western Auto Store up on the square. Where have all the good times gone.

Done that several times in the past for "special" boolits. Works very well and easily removable with a little heat. banger

Yes.....but I would not go over 2 coats due to uneven coating....especially if you are NOT doing ESPC. I have never seen any reason to do a 2nd coat in all the many THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of boolits I have coated. I just buy the correct size mold...

I prefer to cast a LOT of boolits when I am casting! That is why I use 5 & 6 cavity molds only....now mostly in BRASS. My time is far too valuable to mess around with little steel molds that drop only 1 or 2 slugs at a time. Unfortunately there...

Download that alloy calc mentioned above in #11 and your question and all future "what if's" will be answered for you! Happy casting. banger

I own darn near every aluminum mold LEE makes/made due to being very inexpensive at the time. The cast good boolits but are VERY easily damage and dinged up with just normal usage. Also several 1 & 2 banger steel ones I have picked up over the...

Sorry my crystal ball is foggy today. Only you will REALLY know is to have it analyzed with a x-ray gun shoot. Most big scrap yards have them....just take a piece in and say you are interested in selling a bunch of it! There are guys on here...

Some of the worst explosions in history have been in grain elevators filled with grain dust! I used to sell large blow-out panels that would be the sacrificial member of a grain elevator or grain car if a static-caused explosion happened. The panel...

Been off doing my music thing with my new Yamaha GENOS workstation/arranger keyboard. (Check it out with a YouTube search for GENOS) Spend most of my time playing, not with guns and ammo, but with performing music! Did a 2CD Christmas album for the...

Things come & go on Netflix. Check out "Empire of the Air" about early radio by Burns......if you can find it! I bought it in a 7 DVD collection. Excellent history of the 3 men that brought us radio. And opened the door to TV.

Yes.....keep hollow dudes separate. They are spacers and generally are NOT lino alloy. I have lots of this stuff and it generally ends up around 10 or so hardness. Spacers, or "leading", did not need to be as hard as the type faces. But any strips...

Keep as much of it as possible in that original foundry stamped ingot form. That pretty much proves what you have if you ever sell any. If you melt all of it down into a bunch of our favorite teeny 1-2# ingots, there is no way of proving to anyone...
