A " thick piece of Baltic birch. Protects the bench top and is easily replicable when it develops anything that can scratch a gun. And an old bath towel comes in handy at times. Don't waste money on specialty mats and the such. banger

You cannot "overheat" brass. I pre-heat all my molds on a lab electronic hotplate to casting temp and they produce perfect drops the 1st time. Don't waste time heating on the rim of your casting pot....will never get hot enough. Get a good flat-top...

Speaking of TightGroup...........I discovered in my years of playing with PC that it will soften cured PC! I quit using it several years ago and gave a couple pounds to a buddy. I found it out after pulling several loads that were stored nose down...

I shoot 300gn 45's out of my Rossi long guns all the time with excellent performance. They are all PC'd boolits. Velocity is low enough you can almost watch the boolit go down range! (almost!) And when it hits........OMG! That is a big piece of...

Your melt will be darned near 100% homogeneous! Just stir occasionally and flux (as you are supposed to be doing anyway) to reduce the Sn back in and you will have the same alloy from top to bottom. The metals we mess with mix perfectly at the...

I cast pretty much everything now in brass molds. You MUST heat-treat/cure them right off the bat. They need to have a rich golden look to them, not bright & brassy like out of the box. I cycle them at least 4 times up and down at first B4 ever...

I just use my standard 4 slot LEE molds and fill the cavities 1/2 way. Gives nice flat uniform ingots from the 1 oz and the 05 oz slots. I put a mark with a carpenter's flat pencil on the insides to know where to fill to. Works great with what I...

I use the Unique brand of sizing "wax". A small can goes a L_O_N_G way! Many MANY thousands of cases sized and there is still over 3/4 of the can left. Why bother making it? I is very inexpensive to buy.

I use it on all my machine table tops for smooth performance and rust-free.......(hardly any rust here in AZ!) I makes wood slide over the table tops much easier and more accurate. Also use it in one of my custom antique wood polishes I mix...
