You would be surprised how much pressure the medium framed 45 cylinder will take.. I do NOT advise loading it beyond 23,000psi for safety reasons. This figure is derived from the medium framed 45 ACP caliber guns because they are rated safe with...

Oh it will do that and then some.. I will say one thing about those, the NMV and the NM Flattop exhibit the best fit and finish of ANY revolvers Ruger has ever made. Customers brought them by my shop for cylinder throating and I was SO impressed...

2 or 3 digit prefix in the serial number? 2 digit is the original large frame Vaquero, 3 digit is a medium frame Vaquero, safe to 45 ACP+P pressure of 23,000psi but NOT safe with the Ruger Only loads listed in loading manuals that produce 30.000psi.

Check the throats in the SRH. See what boolit will side through with finger pressure and which won't.. It may be able to group much better if the cylinder could be improved.

You couldn't tell none of the mechanics in this shop that, those reamers were bad to the bone. I never broke one, and one reamer would do who knows how many 5th wheels they just kept going and going and going. Took about a minute and a half to do...

DougGuy replied to a thread reamer questions? in Our Town
When I last worked in a truck shop we used to put on 5th wheels with pieces of 4x4 angle laid up against the frame rails so there was the half inch of the angle, then two thicknesses of frame rail, about 1 1/8" or 1 1/4" worth of material to go...

Wooden stick, paint stick or whatever wooden sticks you can find. Using wood you will clean the bottom and sides much better, you'll have cleaner alloy and will also help stop any dripping or clogging of a bottom pour pot. Dip it in slowly at...

Don't overlook dental wax either. You can get sheets of .060" dental wax cheap on fleabay, you cookie cutter them into a flared and charged case using a piece of wood or plastic to press them in and cut them, then seat the boolit normally. I have...

OP the point others are trying to make is that you will spend a LOT of $$ re-inventing the wheel. There are already long established rifles in calibers that do exactly what you want to do at the muzzle.

I will offer this as well a all the other expert advice here. *IF* and I say IF you can look in your barrel, and don't see much freebore, or NO freebore, and the rifling runs right down to the mouth of the chamber itself, then there really isn't...

Hey Brad I am glad it worked out for you, I figured it was much improved! Brad's cylinder was a little more out of spec than most of the 32s it had 4 throats at .3125" but the other two were horrifically ovaled, measuring .314" at the widest part...

Yes you should be using .452". Lee makes .452" push through sizers as the default size for 45 caliber, should be an easy one to find anywhere. Also don't recommend on sizing larger because all you will do is raise pressures since the boolit...

Have the cylinder throats been reamed do you know? If they are stock throats never been worked on, chances are you are sizing to .454" but the boolits will exit the front of the cylinder at throat diameter which could be .4505" or .451" or even...

I use regular lube, of course, I sell TAC 1 and TAC X.. I found the accuracy in a 1911 that is tough to match with tumble lubing or anything else but regular lube..So for shooting tin cans and blasting fun tumble lubing or powder coating is fine. ...

That depends on which way you go! I took a medium framed New Vaquero and rechambered a 45 ACP cylinder to 45 Schofield, loaded it up with 250gr WFN to 1200fps, still stayed under (barely) the 23,000psi 45 ACP+P pressure the gun is rated for. ...
