Wally, seeing your are new to this forum, Working fast will be difficult if your pellets will not drop out of the mold. When cavities are cut the cutting tool leaves a tiny wire edge where the cavities meet. That little bit of metal makes the...

If you want an ogive in wall of the die, it should be placed far enough in the longest conceivable core would be contained inside the die before you start forming. Your core will be smaller diameter than the slug, the curve of the ogive will...

That die looks like it should have close fitting punches at both ends. Both ends need sealed enough to get enough pressure to force lead out of the bleed holes. The base punch (at lest in my vison) would be domed to produce a dished base. The...

Alfred has it nailed. Keeping the temp of the mold up is the key. Not so easy when you only pour a little dribble of lead in big blocks each cycle. Avoid drafts. Apply heat with a hot plate or other means. I sometimes use a piece of steel...

Many years ago, in the piney woods of Fort Polk, we would shoot them from foxholes with M-16, a blank, and a section of cleaning rod. Wouldn't do it now, but it was great entertainment for young soldiers.

Scopes that focus close in are rare. Tough inexpensive ones are even more rare. Thanks for letting everyone know.

In Louisiana at the end of the show, you're required to total your sales and pay local tax at the venue. Paperwork is provided to send the states share in by mail. Usually there's someone at the next table that will watch yours for a break and...

I believe the 338 Win Mag is the most popular and most common of the 338's. You might try The High Road or one of the long range shooting forums. Shelly

I bought a 10-22 for a loaner rifle, took it out to the range one nice afternoon to sight it in. The trigger sucked. Gritty, like dragging the trigger over three bumps to fire. Was shooting prone, and had a nice comfy matt on top a piece of...

Lead has a known melting temperature. Adding tin lowers the melting temperature. Melt some of the suspect wire and check the temp.

Tin makes lead tough. Sometimes your die will break. If your die is 7/8-14 be careful.

Here's an old post. Still making them in a .223 die. WWW.castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?347930-357-advice They do not expand well. A .357 diameter hole serves just fine for my purposes.

Yep right about challenges, I get that in one draw using a walnut hill press. And it does take some serious work on the handle. Drawing a .45 ACP from >.473 down to .448 would be much easier in two steps on a heavy duty reloading press. I'm...

I made a size die that brings 45 autos to .448 diameter. If you don't have a lathe, a inexpensive, but time consuming way of making such a die is as simple as a lee bullet size die, .430 diameter, a wooden dowel, the end split with a hacksaw cut,...
