Butchman, Thanks, but I will not follow your suggestion. Doing stuff my self is so much more fun. That bullet looks like it was a piece of copper rod, with a hole drilled in it, Then some triangular cuts. Probably formed when hot.

There was a section of patch left in a barrel that I purchased off the internet. I could blow through the barrel easy enough, so I'm guessing the patch wasn't fully seated at the breech plug. However, once loaded the patch blocked off the pat....

Just an FYI. I received the latest flyer from Dixie Gunworks "Holiday Treasures" and apparently they "Just uncovered from our warehouse" some NIB Tennessee Mountain rifles. So, if you missed out in 1978, here is your chance for a NIB "low serial...

Well a couple sentences on a forum can give people the wrong impression. My split die idea is two halves hinged at one end. with a shelholder adaptor on the hinge end. The die would be upside down with the pellet skirt up then shoved into a 50...

The die lock ring is a great idea, I will copy it soon, and a few times. I bought a lee 3 jaw chuck and never could get it to work, haven't mess with it for years, maybe it has grit in it.

I keep looking at .357 cal air guns. The fascination is difficult to fathom, I have several molds that cast bullets that look identical to the dollar apiece bullets shown on air gun web sites. But I have a .357 magnum rifle, it is possible to...

Minuteshaver, I think a hand press could swage .22 cal jacketed bullets, but doing so would not be for the faint at heart. Getting the bullet into the die is a process that the hand press probably can do OK. Getting the bullet back out of the die...

Expanding on Multigunner's comments and ideas, what if the compression chamber was .500, and the piston was the back half of an AR-15 bolt? Had a small spark plug mounted in the firing pin hole. Then a linear magneto that stroked as the piston...

The rim can be sheared off in a die, or sized down, or cut off in a lathe operation. Any method you choose is added steps and expense for tools. But .38spl cases are far fewer in number laying on the ground at my range, than .223 rem. For this...

I think it takes a bushing to go from 7/8-14 thread on RCE ram to the 5/8-24 thread on Corbin's die. Then an internal punch spacer, or longer internal punch to make up for the increased length of the bushing.

I really like the semi wadcutter bullets. But being the proud owner of a ruger 77 357 rifle, wad cutters do not feed well. The cartridge has to feed out of the rotary magazine and up into the chamber the square edges hang up. These feed well but...

If you are planning to size .223 brass down to swage .366 diameter bullets you might want to go a few thousandths smaller than .366, like maybe .360 so when you seat the core in the jacket the brass spring back will grip the core. Or, you might...

I picked up an 8 pounder during the height of the shortage, about 3 years ago. Guessing I have 5+ pounds left. If it makes you feel any better, I will not be competing with you in the purchase for at least a couple more pounds of use here.

A proper answer to you question requires a number, sorry I don't have one. But getting lead hot enough to melt also takes time, and barrel time is pretty short. Accuracy should fall off due to the skirt getting hot and soft before the pellet...

Does anyone use the same boolit in 30-06 and subsonic 300 Blackout? I'm looking at the NOE 311-230-FN BLKOUT with gc for the 06 and without gc for the blackout. Both to be used for hunting.
