Star crimp is fine and you will do better overfilling the cavity with hot glue, let it set and trim flush with a sharp hot blade. A straight wall wad like trap commander is a good snug snap fit in the bottom of the wad and height is perfect. If...

i got a legit 3" group with Lyman 525s with MY loads from MY gun at 100 yds from bench the last time I shot targets. As most everyone know there is a good deal of variance in shotgun barrels and fit is everything - it takes a good deal of fiddling...

Oh yeah, if you're using used hulls you'll need to open them fully with a tapered rod of some sort, twisting back and forth to soften. I use an old salt water tapered stopper that works. Those components have to go in straight.

Fiochi actually manufactures the old school cardboard stack loads. Interpolating from this: https://www.americanrifleman.org/articles/2016/12/13/latest-loads-fiber-wad-loads/ I wouldn't worry about the specific BPI products but you need a 1 1/8...

GP, I understand the question, it's just that plastic wads with shotcups are so much more effective for shot loads in consistency, ease of loading and pattern. They are also cheap. That includes various buckshot loads and wad-type slugs. But you...

If you can put your stuff in 6 qt containers friend, you haven't started yet! My crew (2 sons and grandson & me) shot about 8 boxes of 12 ga yesterday. They get a flat of shells each for birthday and Christmas. That generally gets burned up at...

Do yourself a favor after you get set up and pattern your gun/choke/shells at distance. Forget the 30" circle, get an 8" splatter target on a bigger piece of board to see your real killing pattern. Good luck and keep us posted.

Definitely full choke.....maybe! Only your gun will tell you. But I would bet on full for the tightest pattern using standard buck loads. The exception would be the flite control wads in federal but I don't think they make it in 20 ga. buck...

LB, this a wingmaster police I picked up cheap although like new off gunbroker a couple of years ago. 3" chamber, holds 6+1 - 2 3/4" shells. Fixed IC choke. Finally found a good saddle mount and added good red dot. Shot this buck @ 60 yds or so...

Yes on the barrel fit. No plastic in the old wingmasters to replace.

For each his own, I would choose the 870 with a rifled barrel. I own both the Mossberg and the 870 the Mossberg is a great gun and it will take all of the abuse you can give it. The 870 is built better and is a time tested gun that will last a...

Kent, iirc you've got a nice BPS already. Kinda scarce but there are rifled barrels out there. Is there a Canadian equivalent of Gunbroker? Whatever you choose a 3 1/2" chamber is worthless to me in a pump gun, as I can load more than I can shoot...

Did manage 12 today. Changed to modified choke in the 20 after the first few seemed to enjoy teasing me about 40 yds. Son killed limit without a miss, did have to shoot a couple twice, clearly boy was raised right. Grandson got 7 so he's cleaning.
