I bought a turkey fryer from Cabela's and it doesn't have and automatic turn off. Picked up a cast iron dutch oven from thrift store and it works great.

Hope you get your book soon I've had mine for 20 years now and keep referring back to it. A few days back someone on this site had a question about bullet hardening over time and I replied to him what Mr. Smith had in his book on this very subject....

I have a High Point carbine in 45 ACP. I was given 3000 empty case for a 45 so that seemed like the likely candidate to shoot them in and it is a blast to shoot.

I have three contender barrel that I shoot cast bullets in and I crimp all cast bullets. Resistance to cast bullet is much less than that of a jacketed one so ignition of powder seems to be more consistent with the crimp creating the resistance...

I use the Lee 40 cal 175 grain standard grove bullet in a 40 cal and a 10mm and it works well in both. Some adjustment in alloy may be needed to tweek it just so but for my money it is hard to beet Lee bullet molds.

That would be my point. Consumers rejected lower velocity of the 17 HM2. A low velocity 17 HMR load would fair no better.
