The buffer fits into the rear of the receiver fairly tightly without the adhesive. Basically the JB Weld only has to keep it from pulling forward. The bolt hits it squarely and pushes it into the back of the receiver (if it does actually hit it).

The one that I replaced was made from some sort of rubber. Like I said, there was no rivet and the rivet hole had been filled in. I have the rivet but not the skill or know-how to install it. The JB Weld should work - there's a lot of surface...

I cleaned the old buffer out - it was made out of a piece of rubber. There was no rivet holding it in place (the rivet hole had been filled in with what looks like solder). I'm guessing the black glue holding it was JB Weld. Anyways, I used JB...

I tried to find a copy of that book a few years ago but they're pretty rare from what I remember. I got a copy of L. Speckins book: https://www.forgottenweapons.com/book-review-winchester-model-07-self-loading-351-caliber/ I called him when I...

I have one of each WSL: .32, .35, .351 and .401. I recently found a 1903 Winchester .22 Self Loader (Auto), but it takes .22 Win Auto ammo which is not easy to find. I passed (it's still there). The .22s are the most expensive rifles of the group.

The buffer/fiber cushion in the rear of the receiver in my Remington Model 11 12 ga shotgun has to be replaced. It's been crumbling, chipping and splitting so I removed it. I'm glad I did - the metal under it is showing some rust. I have a new...

For what it's worth, my original Remington .44 came with a spare Pietta cylinder that fits and functions perfectly. I use it when I shoot the revolver.

I passed on the Iver Johnson but I got a Mossberg 183D-A bolt action. I won a door prize of $35, the gun was $95, so it cost me $60. Nice little gun.

The Kittery Trading Post in Kittery, Maine has a box of 50 empty unfired .351 cases on an old ammo shelf for $80. They'll probably ship it if it's worth it to anyone. I saw it last night - the box has been there for awhile.

Display at the Cody Firearms Museum. I was able to get the dimensions for the buffer(s) from this and other photos taken at the display.

.223 brass did not work for me, but a .223 sizing die used on .357 Mag brass worked perfectly. No extractor groove needed. I bought some loaded rounds online (made from .357 Max brass) and when I got the box I pulled a few and measured the powder...

I use .357 Magnum brass and dies. I reduce the diameter of the rim with a file and drill press. I don't cut an extractor groove and they all eject perfectly. I use a .352" cast bullet and 17 grs IMR4227. I do neck size the cases with a .223 die...

I've been using the Lee .429 bullet, with black powder. I recently got an Accurate 315 gr heeled bullet which has a max band diameter of .434, which is too wide (it won't chamber). Once I load the bullet at the correct OAL of 2.2", I use the...

I pulled the bullet and powder from a very old .41 Swiss cartridge. The bullet is 300 gr, hollow base, and might have been paper patched. It held approx. 14 grs of a very fine powder. Is there any way to ID the powder or its modern "family" based...
