Pyrodex is the LAST powder I'd ever use!

I know some folk will howl about this, but I don't like the bullet stuffed into the riflings. I don't leave a big gap, but I leave a gap.

Yup, the 56-50 with APP powder shoots noticeably better with a veggie wad. Just got back from the range, and the target says so....

One has to realize that when hunting, one may load and unload the gun a few times. I have been shooting before, at the range, and needed to unload the gun for whatever reason. The case came out, but the slug was still in the barrel. Don't need a...

APP is a BP sub. I am going to work up some Black loads, but was wondering if it would be a good idea to use a wad with the APP. It heats the barrel as would BP. APP states that the bullet should be touching the powder, but very little compression,...

I was thinking more in the lines of cartridges, 56-50. I don't use them for Cowboy loads. We use fiber wads in the shotguns, I don't like those plastic shotcups for cowboy shooting. 1 for the plastic residue, 2.Pattern opens up quicker with out. 3...

Have you handled S&W's AR10 variant (M&P10)? It feels quite a bit lighter and better balanced than other AR10 variants but I may be wrong. It feels more like an AR15 to me. According to their site it's 24 ounces heavier than a similar M&P15. I...

Probably so, not really much on the MSR's. As a Winchester collector I generally won't admit owning one. ;-) Not sure what to call S&W's .308, doesn't quite look like an AR10 but that's actually the one I was envisioning.

Just realized this round may require a redesigned J-word for the masses desiring a hunting load. Most .338 J-words are designed for performance at much higher velocities. Mike

Should have your rifle back soon. A little late to the party but I was going to suggest finding an 1894 in 38-55. Only downside is it would probably need a mould that drops .380 boolits. I was going to send a Marlin off to JES for this same...

No experience to draw from but aren't artificial joints getting better all the time? Maybe by the time this one is worn out the technology will have improved. OTOH the thought of one joint replacement is bad enough, not sure I'd want to plan on...

Sounds like a worthwhile round, especially to someone who loves to put a smackdown on feral hogs as I do. But I'm also a casual historian and I know a little about the history behind the Creedmoor name. I understand the new round is based on the...

If ya can, get some American Pioneer FFFG. Not true BP, not real smokey-less. Regular lube works. Just put in enough powder so the slug compresses powder, or just touches powder works. I shoot similar loads in my cowboy action rifles, works just...

In this case velocity and range will certainly be a factor. Knowing the muzzle velocity, the drop at given distances and the actual distance to the target will all be critical. Your bullet will drop very quickly inside of what many folks consider...

Not a long range shooter but having trouble imagining a .338 bullet with adequate BC and velocity from this case to live up to the Creedmoor name. If it's a hunting cartridge why call it a "Creedmoor"?

Very interesting and quite helpful BUT as others have noted the samples for some categories are likely too small to give accurate data. Shot placement will always be key but when using real shootings that's hard to take into consideration. Funny how...
