I think the bolt stop is different also shortens the bolt throw to the 223 length cartridge. A follower and block in the back of the mag to take up play and space will be needed also. Not sure if feed rails were any different. ANother route would be...

I had never seen this before and asked about it when the contractor did it. On each pole they nailed a 12" length of 2x4 90* to the pole and centered. about 6" up from the bottom. He said it was to help keep poles down and seated until ground had re...

Never worked with 22 tcm so cant comment there. 22 Hornet and its guises is a fine cartridge. good for around 150 yds on chucks, can be accurate is mild both recoil and report. Brass can be harder to find but components are available. Loading is...

For some reason Jeeps front springs had the solid hinge joint in the back and the shackles in front this made for a very stiff ride as the axle didn't "swing back" over bumps. No real give there. It used to be a popular mod to reverse the springs...

Well today was a good day for me. A club member called and I picked up 120-130lbs of mixed lead. 5 5lb ingots of pure lead ingots decoy weights and recovered bullet metal all in ingots or a clean form. Gave him .50 / lb for it. Pure lead ingots...

You might try finding a caster close to you. You might be able to try it first with guidance and instruction from him. Other wise start small with a burner ( most turkey fryers will handle lead)...

For 1000 yd any rifle any sight I used a 6.5 - 20 Leopold with side parallax adjustment, This scope worked well for me and on good days could run it up on days with heavy mirage I could dial it down in power. I used a home made scope rail with 20...

Like it or not Lee did do a service to the hand loaders. While lee equipment isn't as well polished fancy knurls and other trimmings its made to a price point that almost anyone can afford. I wouldn't call it cheap but rather inexpensive ( there's a...

Water quenching pure lead changes it very little. If there is antimony and balls harden then loading in a cap and ball revolver will be much harder both on you and the firearm. For bullets I use a paint roller tray lined with...

Size of the pot is somewhat determined by size of bullets cast and your production requirements. What I mean is casting smaller bullets like 22s at 50-70 grns a 4-5lb pot is a long session to empty it from start to finish. Casting big 4ifle bullets...

There are some that compress with a die to the point the cases ( usually longer rifle cases swell and wont chamber). I let the numbers and accuracy tell me when its right. I chronograph my test loads watching velocity, Extreme Spread and Standard...

That round looks good. What brand and granulation of black powder are you using? This will have a direct bearing in how much compression you may need. Swiss likes little compression Olde Ensforde falls midway and Goex likes the most. I would try...

A shim can be cut and used to tighten up a loose fit. If peening I prefer to peen the sights dovetail rather than the slot. ( the original fit and peening the slot means it will have to be refit if you use it again). I wouldn't go a lot with the...

Cedar should be fine. I would line the areas touching with felt or rubber. Another option might be aluminum or plastic. 1/2" clear acrylic might do nicely and will stand up to weather.

I think I would try the rubber walk way mat just lay it down when needed and roll it up when not. This way it isn't holding moisture, isn't subject to damage when not needed or wanted. In Black brass cases will show up good and not be hidden. with...
