Unless you get a geographically responsible sales or marketing person on the phone, the people you are talking to are "fender-offers" who view their role as dealing with the "annoying public". Glad to hear the folks at Mossberg get it though!

9x57, slightly more robust than the .358 Winchester but more rather than less similar. There's a piece on Norma brass in the latest edition of Handloader that discusses the two a bit. The 9.3 x 57 is rather like the amp in "This is Spinal Tap", as...

Seconded. The Micro-groove barrel shoots cast bullets well, if sized correctly and alloy matched to velocity. Plenty of information out there, but .310 at BHN 12 - 15 in the 1500 - 1800 fps range can be very accurate.

The advice above regarding H4895 not being a good choice with your component combination matches my experience. TB can work well as a cast propellant, however, in my experience it can be inconsistent in bottleneck cases. I have found TB in...

RPRNY replied to a thread strange time at range in Our Town
Scary stuff! I emptied the range bucket the other week with what looked like about 75 cases of new, once fired 308. When I started to de-prime about the 4th round I picked up looked an felt wrong. Turns out I had about 20 rounds of 6.5 Creedmoor...

The M7 shoulder holster rig is the most comfortable, but not really a concealed rig. Can be warn underneath a fairly substantial piece of outerwear but to be concealed would limit access quite a bit. I have found the "Jackass" type rig described...

The one on the left has too short a neck to be a classic 35-30/30 as in a 30/30 simply necked up to 35 cal. It appears to have a sharper shoulder? Assume that they are both head stamped 30-30? The one on the left looks like an AI version with some...

For Black Powder even BHN 10 is at the upper limits. The softer the better.

There's a NOS 243 WIN with black plastic furniture on GB for $155 no reserve, one day left. Nothing to do with me. JES does great work, quickly, for very reasonable prices.

RPRNY replied to a thread tristar o/u 410 in Factory Rifles
Tri-Star is an importer of predominantly Turkish made firearms. In the past, that has usually been followed by some disparaging remark. Turkey is in the firearms world today where Spain was in the 70s and 80s. The Turks make a wide range of firearms...

The many decades long B&C record elk was taken with a Krag 30-40 and 180 grs bullet, probably at around 2100-2200 MV. 170 grs bullets from the 30-30 at 2000 - 2100 have killed plenty of elk and moose. I will hunt elk this year with 30-40. So, a...

So, shooting for fun, competition, or old school self defense? The only hard and fast rule is no space between powder and bullet base. After that, it depends. 30 grs FFFg under 255 grs is no slouch. That'll give you bark and bite. If you're after...

Sweet!! Congratulations. Mine's in 45 and I love it. Use it for CAS and love it as a range toy. For truck, saddle and hiking use, my 16" Rossi gets the nod but my ' 94 Cowboy is a beaut.
