There is a sticky in this section on shooting smoothbores that will answer your questions, I believe. With no rear sight, i generally match or surpass my rifle scores at matches, shooting at the same targets. In most of the shoots in this area, no...

Last spring, when I was finishing up the last of the orders for North Star West and Matt Denison, I got a idea, and called Matt. I asked him if he would be willing to make me parts for an Early English Trade gun, in exchange for pay of the last...

Better method I came across I've used for the last few guns I've blued. Get a section of 4" pvc, long enough to put the metal in. Get a plumbing flange to fit the pvc. This will be your most expensive part, around $25. Find a pot that this will set...

If you got them from Crazy Crow, they ARE steel, that have been brass plated. About the only source for real domed brass tacks, is to find an old steamer trunk, and pull the tacks. Things I learned from 30+ years of museum restoration.

I was reading over your post and see you have tried heat. Something I have found to work and work well on several items. I heat the problem and then rapid cool it dropping in water or dumping water on it. If its held in place by rust it will release...

Start using binoculars, and learn how to pick the brush apart with your eyes, you may be surprised how many deer you are walking past.

If building from scratch, form it so it fits you, not what some factory though should fit every person.

I was thinking a ziplock bag then vac seal the ziplock should keep the powder in check I just want to seal it. Heck just drawing some air out and then sealing would keep moisture out a vacuum is not a must.

If it hasn't already been rechambered, I would really suggest leaving it as a 8X57. It is a well balanced chambering, and is only second to the .358 Win for my favorite cast chambering.
