Well now i guess it is all a ballpark figure in the end.Now the question was about the math.I have found the roto formula to be close enough for the purpose of casting boolits. If you all want to get into it deep have at it.

Basic Rules for Hardening Lead- For every 1% additional tin, Brinell hardness increases 0.3. For every 1% additional antimony, Brinell hardness increases 0.9. For a simple equation, Brinell = 8.60 + ( 0.29 * Tin ) + ( 0.92 * Antimony this...

if you are hesitant but it doesn't sound like u really want to pull you can always load some lighter and work your way up. Just remember though while it is a pain to pull it is much more painful to find out the hard way you should have.

I buy hornady 55 grain 223 for rifle but for pistol I don't bother to weigh individual boolits. I do however weigh the whole batch after a casting session, it gives me a sense of accomplishment

Like many others when I started I would use scrounged boxes but they started falling apart. I just couldn't justify the cost of buying containers when I was also stockpiling components and getting new equipment. Now I use a combination of ammo...

I usually just use a flat headed screwdriver or old knife. For larger globs that somehow make their way to the floor when making ingots I pinch them with a pair of pliers and they pull right up

My thought is everything has a health risk, I just bake them outside, preferably on a windy day and don't worry much about it. I do the asbb method though so much less dust than spraying.
