I did my first DT last night using Smoke's powder. After the swirl and shake I looked in the container and wasn't real sure I'd gotten good coverage. I looked around for a piece of flannel to rub the plastic container with and spied a pair of my...

Don't see why it wouldn't work. As you say, PC is tough stuff and I doubt it's going to melt or burn off with BP since it doesn't with smokeless. BUT (don't you love that word) - - BUT, one purpose of a lube with BP is to keep the fouling soft....

As noted by Petrol & Powder, the binding is an issue of the type of lube and its application. In the load I use powder, fill the chamber with cream of wheat, pre-lubed felt wad, ball, seat and top off with Darr's lube (home made). I lubricate...

Wheelgun, thank you. It was rather fun doing it. I think the color is what Smoke calls "Flame Red". I also have Signal Blue and John Deere Green. One may be for a BACO 38-55 bullet and the other for a Lyman 405 grain 45-70 bullet. Guess I need...

Batch one and batch two from my first try at powder coating. Followed Smoke's directions exactly, but still sweated the end results. After swirling and shaking I didn't think the coverage was very good. Things cooled off around here last night...

Up above there's a "Sticky" entitled Lead Alloy Calculator. It's simple to use and gives pretty good results.

I used a Lyman to size .3835 PCed bullets to .380 and .379 easily. Backed off any pressure on the lube screw. Wiped the die clean. I did have to put a very, very light coat of lube on the bullets so they'd slide in and out of the die easily. ...

As noted, the tang rear and globe front sights will help you a lot. The Hadley Eyecup by Lee Shaver can be adjusted for light conditions and is a good addition. I really, really like the Heilman sights. Three rifles have them. There may be a...

A forum member PCed some bullets for me so I could test before buying the material. I gave him 50 new cast bullets from a Beagled mold that had been sized to 0.380". When they were coated they measured between 0.382" and 0.3865" with the majority...

First thing I thought of was paper patching, sperm whale oil and jojoba oil. I know a dab of the two oils were often used on paper patches. They could have been mixed with bees wax for a "grease". The two oils were excellent lubricants, resisted...
