I bent a pair of hammers for an old side by side shotgun. I Put the hammers in a vise, heated them with a simple Mapp gas torch and bent them to achieve the desired shape. Cold blued them with I was done and they worked fine.

/\ Yep /\ and that is why binoculars are often used to find targets and spotting scopes are then used for more detail. Any serious time looking through a monocular or spotting scope becomes unpleasant. For short term use, there are some real...

I use Bore butter when shooting cap & ball revolvers. It is useful for lubing felt wads seated under the ball or for covering the front of the seated ball. But I must agree with richodg66, it's pretty much liquid at anything above room temp. I...

That's interesting, what's the purpose of the cooler? Just a convenient box or a means to isolate the gear?

I think all of that is completely irrelevant with a cast bullet that has a crimp grove and the casing is crimped in that crimp groove. I see no evidence that the Lee FCD folds that brass into a crimp groove any better than a conventional roll crimp...

I'm going to be the dissenter here and say that I am no fan of the Lee FCD. It's essentially a collet and a gimmicky one at that. I know some people like the things but I've never seen a Lee FCD do anything more than a standard roll or taper...

Lightning is interesting stuff. I've seen it blow the bark completely off a tree and pile it at the base. A previous house of mine was located on the high point of an otherwise flat plateau. It was just SLIGHTLY higher than all of the land in...

/\ THIS /\ There's little uniformity in the naming of cartridges. English & metric designations for cartridges have little bearing on actual dimensions in the world of firearms.

You can get that NX4510 in a manual transmission with a shuttle shift. I would recommend that you at least look into that option.

As for the cost of parts for small engines - They are insanely inflated ! One good effect of the internet is the ability to rapidly compare prices from different sources. Competition is a good thing. A replacement carburetor is often available...

During backhoe operation the tractor just sits there and you just need hydraulic power. So transmission type isn't terribly critical there. FEL work involves lots of direction changes, lots of starting and stopping movements and generally more need...

Liquid in all the cylinders will generally result in the engine being hydraulically locked (liquids will not compress) BUT the danger is some liquid in some of the cylinders. That condition can result in the liquid being pushed out through the open...

Fortunately I don't have a lot of them. It's not a huge problem but it sure is annoying when one makes it into the progressive press. The primer bulges but doesn't come out of the casing, that locks the casing in the shell plate and locks the shell...

Been a while since I've seen one of those. Decent .22 training rifle. They were common at gun shows in the late 80's and early 90's but then sort of disappeared.

The all steel, CZ-75B will get the job done nicely. I didn't know they could be had for under $600 but I haven't priced one recently. That's a good deal on a solid pistol. I have a little history with the CZ-75 and it's an excellent pistol.

I'll agree the hydrostatic transmissions are not as bomb proof as a geared transmission but they're nice when doing light loader work in a tight space. If you keep the fluid clean and don't overheat them, the hydrostatic will hold up ok. But,...

I have a 25HP Mahindra and it is a pretty good little tractor. I don't work it hard; some grading, push a little snow, mowing but no heavy work. I agree the tractor is built fairly heavy but I'm unimpressed with the belly mower. I think they cut...

I will admit to loading 38 Special casings to .357 mag levels and shooting them in .357 mag revolvers. I stopped that practice years ago and I will NOT repeat it. There's just too much danger of getting one of those cartridges in a 38 Special...
