M-Tecs , it was 1-9 I measured it, I do think that was part of the problem. I don't think mine was marked on the barrel. vzerone, I thought about the 244-6mm thing while writing the first post. Dave

About 2000 I bought a Rem 700 VLS in 260 Rem, it shot light bullets very well but 140 gr. bullets not so good. I don't really know why, you never can really tell but I tried a lot of different things. It would not out shoot my scoped Swede. I think...

I keep a 410 shotgun at the back door with an assortment of shells in a stock sleeve .It's not a garden gun but an effective pesky critter getter. One of the most useful loads is about the same as a 38 special shot shell, about 4 gr. of unique, a...

If you have hundreds of pounds of scrap copper and brass can sell it and fund part of the casting equipment. Dave

I to suggest that you start out with the 38-357, easy to load and cast compared to auto's and rifles. A Lee pot, a couple moulds, a push through sizer and Lee bullet lube will get you started. You can spent a lot of money on high quality equipment...

I have a Savage Hog Hunter in .223 with a 1-9 twist , it shoots Hornady 68 gr. HPBT Match bullets very well. It hits the rifling at 2.377 and I seat at 2.330 because that works well in the mag. I also have some Spanish military 5.56...

Dutchman, that's the same as mine, the guy had loaded a few pieces that I pulled down but most looked unfired. I was watching YouTube today, one fellow stated that there were factories in Sweden besides Norma that could have made Herter's brass....

If the CA brass is Norma it turned out better than expected. I almost don't want to use the Herter's brass but I don't need any more collectables ,it's worth more to use than look at.

beemer started a thread 6.5 X 55 brass in Military Rifles
I did a little trading today and ended up with some brass for my Swede, it is marked CA, I know it's commercial, anyone know who made it? It looks like good brass. I also got 99 rounds of nos Herter's brass that was made in Sweden, probably...

I have used the Weaver TO-1 that fits the charger bridge and the receiver ring on several rifles with no problems, it will work on both the #1 and the #4. The rifle does have to be drilled and tapped. I added a piece to the butt stock similar to the...

Several years ago I bought a several boxes of Winchester 7.62X54r in the white box for the brass. The country of origin was printed on the box , can't remember what it was but it was made off shore had shallow primer pockets like S&B.

I have a 30-06 set with the metal dipper it is marked 12M. I think it throws about 44 grs. of 4064. the 12 ga. set has an adjustable dipper but the powder dipper was gone and I replaced it with yellow plastic. It would be nice to have a set,...

The standard primer was the Win standard rifle, the old nickel primers in the white box and the mag primers were CCI. The velocity was a little over 2300 with a 150 gr bullet, not hot at all, maybe not hot enough. Although the mag primer helped this...
