Currently I only cast 45 Colt pistol bullets but these bullets get shot through both rifle and pistol barrels. I weigh every bullet and place it on a like labeled post-it Note. After all the bullets are weighed they are packed in 50 count lots. ...

The LEE .358" 148 gr double ended wad cutter (DEWC) has 3 lube grooves. If you estimate 1 gr of lube per bullet you will be close. If you have the bullets try smearing margarine into the lube grooves of one bullet and weigh that bullet before and...

greenjoytj replied to a thread Lubesizer heaters in Boolit Lube !
I switched from the Lyman lube heater to the the new RCBS thermostatically controllable heater. The Lyman worked ok after I fixed a cold soldered joint the factory did on the tiny leads coming out of the cartridge heater. Always having to turn...

Sounds like the bullet the OP used was a designed for muzzle loaders. Maybe it has 2 deep scraping groove on the side of the bullet over the deep hollow base. That type of bullet design is known to blow the solid head off the skirt leaving the...

I would think the lead canisters were melted to make projectiles balls or bullets. I doubt 8# of lead got tossed to the side of the trail when ever a powder canister was empty.

The crimping process performed on the 45 ACP cartridge, a cartridge that is designed to be head spaced off the cases mouth. Some small thickness on the side of the case at mouth is required to be left standing above the side of the bullet in order...

Weigh the cartridges, you maybe will be able to determine if their charged with BP or smokeless. For fun of course that won’t reveal the granulation size or speed of the smokeless, just helps you guess their contents before you pull the bullets.

Which smokeless was that, a slow burning rifle powder or a very fast pistol powder? Where would a quality BP 2 & 3 fg be if it was assigned a place on the Hodgdon’s burn rate chart?
