9.3X62AL replied to a thread 327 Federal in Cast Boolits
"Ditto" to TC FAN's text. I use the RCBS #32-98-SWC and enough WW-231 to prompt 950-1000 FPS in most of my shooting in 327 Federal. I have tried the full-tilt loadings with jacketed bullets and AA-9 or Alliant 2400 powders, and the muzzle reports...

Thanks to Outpost75 for showing the photos of the 38 "Super Police" loadings above. These are my first views of the cartridge. I now also see where Lyman #358-430 (195 grain RN) got its inspiration. #358-430 was one of my first mould purchases...

The S&W "Victory" M&P 38/200 is a good shooter with decent service sights. NEI #169A atop 3.0 grains of Unique or 3.3 grains of Herco prompts about 700 FPS, and when they hit iron targets at 25 yards they make quite a WHOCK. The 150 grain #358477s...

I remember the data that Skeeter Skelton published--and soon retracted--in Shooting Times. Given my experience with the 32 H&R in a Ruger SSM and a S&W Model 16-4, I thought his powder weights might get him into trouble with the liability lawyers...

One Achille's Heel not mentioned so far concerning the Marlin 1894 examples in 44 Magnum is their rifling twist rate. For some reason, Marlin elected to use the old 44/40 WCF twist rate of 1 turn in 38 inches. This works fine with the 44/40's...

I kinda doubt this hardbound Lyman Handbook Of Cast Bullets was sold commercially anywhere. An old friend died a year ago had this in his library and when bringing some garden produce to his wife, she asked if I wanted it. Needless to say, I said...

I really never gave a hoot about user-quantity of MJ. I offered the possessors two options--1) Cast their cares to the wind, OR 2) speak to Hizzoner about this faux pas. In 28 years, I never had anyone insist upon meeting the judiciary. I also...

Yessir--the throats vary considerably. Colt Police Positive x 4" is .359", S&W Regulation Police is .361", and a Webley-Enfield and S&W M&P that served the British Empire during WWII both measure .363". I use pin gauges to measure these throats,...

You have a rather "tight" revolver, it seems. My 2 now-departed 44 Special revolvers did not achieve the velocities that your example is producing. That wheelgun is a KEEPER, sir! My 6.5" S&W Model 624 gave Lyman #429421 just under 1000 FPS...

I think most folks would be surprised at how few academy students currently in LE training in this country had any exposure to handgun shooting prior to joining the departments they work for. Some candidates learned the rifle in Armed Forces basic...

Most leverguns in classic calibers have throat leade forms with very steep and abrupt rifling origins. This sort of leade is quite hostile to paper jackets IME. The good news--these same leade forms are VERY FRIENDLY to cast bullets, and...

Yessir. My favorite bullet for use in 38 Special and 38 S&W (if your mould casts it large enough to fit). Lyman #358429 arrived kinda late at my house, and it does as well as 477, and weighs about 15 grains heavier (if that matters). But in terms...

Grits work quite well too but not as good as the tumbling stuff. The crushed pecan shells have a higher density and a little more range./beagle

.38 Special brass. Card wad over powder, fill case with the crushed shell tumbling medium and add card wad with a slight crimp to hold wad in. 3.0 grains of Bullseve./works great up to about 6 feet./beagle

Different but related. My shooting partner bulged the barrel on a Ruger .45 auto. He finally got the barrel out and being a machinist, turned it back to contour and counterbored past bulge. Lost a little velocity but no accuracy. That was 10 years...

^^^ THIS ^^^. I am none too fond of Lee moulds, but their TC bullet design is FIRST-RATE. You might see if NOE or Accurate makes a design that follows Lee's pattern closely.
