    I've used the "rotator' thingie method...by putting them between 2 plates and going in a circular motion. Does your method change the diameter at all?

    Your best bet (IMHO) would be to get a new Picatinny (flat) gas block for the front. This would be negated if you don't have a removable carrier handle, in that case just lop that sucker off like the others have said...you can always get another...
