Wow that is a nice looking rifle and that doesn't look like pressed checkering. Bob

The recipe is in deer camp, 170 miles from here, also where I squirrel hunt. We slow cook them in Chardonnay along with some vegetables and pour over mashed potatoes. Best to just quarter them, not as many bones that way. I got the recipe from the...

Pistol and rifle twist for the same boolit are usually different, but all you can do is try it and see what happens. Years ago I tried shooting a 38-40 boolit in my 40cal ML with a 48 twist barrel. For the most part it shot minute of deer. About...

Probably true, even a big vice might do the same. To be honest I haven't felt under powered with the powder that I've been making since I use it for hunting. 2 deer and a bushel basket of squirrels sure couldn't tell the difference. Bob

With that twist it will like slugs better than RBs. Probably made for a mid or LR gun. Deer Creek made their own barrels before it was sold. They had 2 rifling machines on site. I have had 2 of their H&A RB guns in 50 cal and they shoot lights out,...

I had pretty good luck from a Lee REAL in a Euro-Arms 2 band musket, in fact it shot better than the Minie's. Bob

Scored a decent 8 point opening morning with the Shiloh. 325gr boolit over 50gr of OE 2F. Now to work up a load for the 400gr Steve Brooks mold for silhouette and mid range. A little bit of a challenge since the Marbles tang sight shot 5 inches high...

Don, this is a Martini, action anyway, don't have the complete rifle. Sights are for old eyes, not standard. Bob

IIRC the Long Lever Martini has a .470 groove diameter. The MK1 and 2 are tapered from .468 at the chamber over 8 inches down to .464, or at least the MK 2 that I have is like that. I don't have a MK 4 to measure, just going on what I have read on...

The big problem is that most of the Martinis have a grove that varies from .464 on the small side up to .470 in the MK4. The Lee is probably .459 at the most. I shoot a .461 385gr boolit in mine but using BP. That kicks it in the butt hard enough to...

I just put them back in the press and solidify them again. Whatever is left that isn't enough for another puck is pan priming powder and it works very well. Bob

Talked to MVA yesterday and their Winchester B scope with the #2 mount is good to 700yd so will make a nice silly wet and hunting scope. They don't stock them though, it is a 4 to 6 week wait so I won't be hunting with one weekend after next. If the...

I don't think that I have ever shot it that close. First time out we went right to the 300yd line. I shoot it at 200yd at Oak Ridge and it goes that low without problem. I will check my book when I get home, if I remember to do that. I taller front...

Depends on what you are going to do with it. I have a 45 and shoot it out to 1000yd. If that is what you are going to do then the 45 might serve you better. If you are going to shoot mid range either will work. The 40 has the 16 twist barrel but...

I've worn glasses since I was 3 years old, but my eyesight has gone down hill anyway in the last 12 years. The thing that has helped the most with iron sights has been going to amber lenses and regular bi-focals instead of progressive lenses for...

Lee Shaver sells a sight that looks like a 17A that the bubble slides on to a groove after you put the inset in. The bubble might go on the dovetail. I'll have to look at mine when I get home. If you have the rear dovetail from the barrel sights I...

40-50 SS. I'm sure there will be an adventure. I thought that this would be a fun Silhouette with scope, mid range with irons and hunting gun both with irons and a scope. If the desire hit it would be good with smokeless as well. Does anyone know...
