He is good, and has been a teacher to me for 35+ years of gun building. I'm happy I can teach him a few tricks now and then.

It sounds like a lot of inter related issues. One easy answer, no problem with the half cock. Put on the cap, let down the hammer, bring it back to half cock. IF it's only going to half cock, DO NOT drop the hammer on it until the fix is found....

The barrels will work fine. Like has been said, make it wider for stability and space. I'd go 6' minimum, and would prefer 8'.

I want to thank the OP for the generous opportunity of a participating member of the forum to receive this high quality brass. In my case I own a Savage model 40 rifle in 22 Hornet and some barrels in Hornet that fit the Contender. If I were...

I also have a Handi-rifle that the kids and I play sniper with, shooting cans at 200 yards. That is the furthest we can shoot around here at a range. And it is cheap to shoot with my cast boolits.

There is a sticky in this section on shooting smoothbores that will answer your questions, I believe. With no rear sight, i generally match or surpass my rifle scores at matches, shooting at the same targets. In most of the shoots in this area, no...

Better method I came across I've used for the last few guns I've blued. Get a section of 4" pvc, long enough to put the metal in. Get a plumbing flange to fit the pvc. This will be your most expensive part, around $25. Find a pot that this will set...

I'm talking about the hollow domed tacks. What you used are classed as nails.

That is a Ray Thompson design & Skeeter was very fond of it in 38 special brass with 13.5 grs of 2400. I load the same load in the bottom crimp groove or 14 grs in 357 magnum brass for fine accuracy. Use a good lube like LBT blue, or Carnuba Red or...

If you got them from Crazy Crow, they ARE steel, that have been brass plated. About the only source for real domed brass tacks, is to find an old steamer trunk, and pull the tacks. Things I learned from 30+ years of museum restoration.

The handle and spout are soldered on with silver solder? It is much stronger than lead/tin solder and used to solder SxS shotgun barrels together.
