I bought a Forster Co-ax a few years ago and haven't set it up yet. I need to get to that. I sure didn't spend anywhere close to $500, though. For all the reloading junk I have, the Rockchucker still does the bulk of all the tasks I do, like...

For hiking/fishing I will usually take along either a nickle plated 2" S&W Model 10, or my Single Six 22LR. Neither weighs too much, and both are comfortable for me to carry all day. Shot loads can be carried in either as well.

My load is: 34.5 gr H4895, Lyman 311299 sized to .311 and lubed with WL 2500+, CCI 34 primer, LC68 brass. This gives right @ 1900fps in my H&R Garand. It cycles reliably and is very accurate.

Right. Thanks for making that clear but did understand it is a cartridge rifle and suspected it had to be a replica cartridge rifle conversion from your first post. What started my reply, was the "1863" paired with "50-70". I was never interested...

That makes sense. Though cool rifles, percussion Sharps may not have been a big seller. Or not enough to keep it in the line-up anyway. For us curious types, what is the price on the rifle you are looking at?

Lake Roosevelt in central AZ is a very good fishing/boating lake, as is Lake Powell at the Utah border which has over 2000 miles of shoreline and spectacular scenery. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theodore_Roosevelt_Lake...

The Argie has a rather unique chamber in that what is commonly the throat is the same OD as that of the neck area in the chamber. So there is no LEADE as we commonly know it, and there is actually more freebore/windage then desired. The above...

...............I have a 1879 Argentine contract RB rifle I purchased possibly 15 years ago? Went to a smallish gunshow and upon entering I stopped and simply surveyed the venue from one end to the other. At the right end toward the rear I saw a few...

I like the NOE 45 grain WFN design for squirrels. Mine is all plain based. I also have one of the Lee Bator molds before they changed to a copy of the RCBS design. It's a good shooter as well. I've never tried to make either one a full power...

It's been our experience that the .260 Remington works very well on deer. My oldest son's first deer rifle is a Remington Model 7 in .260. I recently got a Ruger American in 6.5 Creedmoor. Waiting for good weather to mount the scope and shoot...

I'm just not sure I can bring myself to have something that looks like that, but it sure might be interesting to work with. Did a look see on Ruger's site and other than .308, not much to interest a caster, though I do have molds for 6.5. Kind...

Even though I do most of my shooting on my own place now, once in a while I go RSO at the range I'm a member of just to stay connected. A guy I know who is a pretty knowledgeable shooter shows up with one of these in 6.5 Creedmoor (not sure what...

I RSO'd a local pistol range yesterday. I could have walked away from there with a five gallon bucket of .40 S%W brass, I think it's even more common than 9mm brass now. I really should get a .40 if for no other reason. I have a 10mm I...

Nice - for the right price. I checked, Shiloh may not make the 1863 anymore. They do not catalog it on their websight and so it is harder to check if they made a cartridge model (conversion Sharps) 1863. I was guessing they did not but I don't...

1863? Does Shiloh make a conversion Sharps replica? To respond to your question about Shiloh quality, it is very good and they stand behind their product. Do you have a picture?

Cool old shotgun. There's just something a lot more satisfying about using the old timers, especially with your own specialized handloads.

#4 are popular for Turkey and I bet they'd make good pheasant loads too. I have a small quantity of #4 shot, been considering a 1 1/8 ounce 16 gauge load for squirrels that will leave less shot to pick out.

I hear you. I shot a deer this past Fall with a jacketed bullet in my old .30-06. No real excuse, but I got impatient and bogged down by problems hunting this year and took the easy route, first one I'd killed with a jacketed bullet in ten years. ...

Said it on the can. I have lubed bullets with ordinary automotive bearing grease by smearing some on the bearing surface of the bullet before seating, worked fine. Only did it for slow stuff, and didn't wait long between loading and shooting. ...
