For me, there really wasn't much of a "jump" either. Long before I started doing my own casting, I used store bought cast bullets for hunting. Primarily in handguns, but after I started pouring my own I moved over to cast in rifles as well. I still...

My Dad was the most avid shooter and caster I know. So I grew up being taught that cast was how it's done. dad wasn't a hunter, but in some circles was a target shooting force to be rekoned with. As such, he tended to cast things hard, and didn't...

I have one white gas stove, and two lanterns. One of my lanterns is Forest Service marked from the 1960's I believe. I pretty much ruined my white gas stove by smelting lead on it, but it still works. I purchased another stove and one more lantern...

Micro fine ground graphite from Brownells is about the best since Ray Rapine retired and is not longer supplying product. Paint it in the cavities with a cotton que-tip. I am sorry you are having trouble with the Brooks mold. He is a very good...

If you can post that recipe, I'd be interested. Not seeing many in the woods here this year. Kinda funny, the rabbits always get scarce after Spring, but I have never seen them so thick in Spring then disappear so completely in Summer and Fall...

That is an incredibly good group for any lever rifle at 100 yards. However, you should have a talk with the guy that stapled that target up in the wrong spot - too far to the right.

Lots of good designs out there. I had good luck with the Rancgdog .30-30 bullet, also a couple of different 311041 molds on deer. The 311284 has been mentioned and it is an awesome bullet, but you may want to cast it with a soft nose, I plan to...

A shop nearby has a nicely sporterized Dutch Manliccher they've had for three years at least. Made a low ball offer they turned down, I'll go back in six months or so and try again. Had a fairly lengthy thread about case forming for it, seems...

In 2018, I bought a nicely sporterized 93 Mauser in 7x57 and a nicely sporterized Krag. Both are good shooters with cast. I wouldn't have done either, but I'm glad someone did.

Glad things are going your way. The.30 calibers work well with cast on deer. I've used several including a 99 in .300 with cast. You may want to get a design with a flat nose before next year, though it sounds like the RN did fine.

A lot of people like to tinker with things, goes for rifles to. You want to see this even worse than rifles, get on some motorcycle forums. A lot of guys get the Mosins because they're cheap and kinda cool and most aren't really shooters they...

Not sure if it's an option but would her employer allow her to open carry on the property? Would solve a lot of problems. Having a relative, especially a female one working around the kind of riff-raff you describe would be very worrisome to me....

Russ Weber ? I assume. CPA has a filled case that you push the bullet in with. If that sounds like something interesting you can check with Gayle.

I'd have to say Red Dot for me too. Unique is a good powder for all around use, but I like Red Dot even better.

I think because rimmed cases don't have the tendency to push the shoulder back, due to "primer thrust". The primers can back out on light loads, and push the case forward and end up moving the shoulder back. It's generally only a problem when...

I have 3 versions of that same basic mold, the RCBS 201 SWC, the Noe H&G 68 clone (5 cavity), and the Lee version (6 cavity). Of the 3, the RCBS 201 SWC is my favorite. It doesn't rain boolits like the other two, but it's easy to cast with and casts...
