I might have to get a box of the CB Longs just for grins...They had them.

.............The link (http://castpics.net/dpl/index.php/re...06-springfield) in Hamish's post is all data I'd ginned up. In the 30'-06 using either WC860 or WC872, you cannot get enough into the case to cause any problems. You WILL probably have...

You and I think alike. I am a fan of the whole Rook Rifle concept and have plans to build one up on a Savage 219 eventually. A .32 S&W Long would be cool, but have been thinking a .25-20 would be good too.

I wish ammo was still available for them. Got a rifle in it from Dad and found a mostly full box in his stuff, but won't shoot it. If you want more power out of a rim fire than a .22 LR now, you get the .22 WMR or .17 HMR, both of which are too...

I never use a brush...just good ol' Hoppes #9 on a 30 cal patch. I will clean and oil the action as needed with q-tips.

I clean mine from the muzzle using a bore guide. I surely hope I haven't been doing it wrong all these years! BTW, I clean my M1 Garands and M1A the same way. The rod never contacts the barrel/crown. If I'm in the field I might use a bore snake.

Are you looking to shoot cast in it? Seems the 6.5 would have the advantage there.

I think with big bores like that and flat nosed bullets, you'll be fine if you're getting the accuracy you need.

Yeah, I'm aware of the issue. My solution is a little JB Bore with a nylon brush. Cleans it right up. I don't let it accumulate...I think that is the biggest problem. Thanks for the reminder though.

One thing that surprised me about these 22 Shorts is that my Old Model Single Six is a bit finicky with 22LR ammo. It's not nearly as finicky with the 22Mag cylinder. These 22 Shorts shot so well that I really don't mind spending a little more for...

I saw CCI 22 Short CB Caps there too today. They also had some 22 Long (not LR), I didn't get any though. I'm not really sure what the difference is, maybe just the velocity I suppose. I was able to get a couple more 100 packs of the 22 Short Target...

Some powders seem to leave more carbon than others, at least for me anyway. Titegroup comes to mind. It leaves a deposit on the cylinder of my stainless revolvers that is pretty difficult to remove. Kroil has worked well for me to remove carbon. For...

I was at my local Sportsman's Warehouse and saw that they had some CCI 22 Short, they are marked Target 22 Short, 29 grains @ 830FPS. I picked up a box on a whim, and finally got to the range to try them. I was very pleasantly surprised! Both my...

You had a bore diameter GG bullet that you had to further reduce the nose on?

They work well. I have a mold in 40 cal. Just the base band is 0.409". The rest of the grease grooves are 0.400". It kinda makes a 40-50SS into a the powder capacity of the 40-70 SS. In real terms it is just a two diameter bullet with a odd ratio...

I think Dan Cash is giving you good advice. First, spend time (not much) learning how to pan lube with out using Kake Cutters and you are half way there. Order the right size LEE push through IF you even need a sizer. Often a given bullet design...

I'm no expert, I've heard some say a decent gunsmith can fit an old one to a different gun without much trouble and then I've heard guys say it's nearly impossible, I just don't know. But please don't scrap it.
