waksupi replied to a thread Computer video download in Our Town
I repeat, Chromebook 14 will not support video download from SD cards. This platform runs off of apps and cloud. There has been no program developed for handling video downloads from a camera card. Looking for an alternative computer, not a work...

Nope, that doesn't work. I've been working on this for two months, and it can't be done, according to tech webpages.

I already checked, the Chromebook 14 doesn't support this, with no time line for having one available. I'm leaning real strongly towards a Dell Inspiron 15 3000.

I have a question for you. What do you run for a computer? I got a Chromebook 14 recently, and can't download video to it from my sd card. So, I'm stuck with going to the library and using their antique windows machine, that takes forever to...

Sharon Barrels did testing many years ago on over loads in their barrels. Heaviest charge was 1400 gr. powder, with 14 patched round balls over that. No failure. The only damage they were able to do on barrels was by separating the ball from the...

They aren't hard to do, but are not a fail safe. I had one rifle with double cross bolts, that still split. A good idea with a heavy recoil rifle, though.

I wonder what happens with the modern substitute powders? I have no knowledge of the detonation rate of that fake powder. I guess if you overload one, you will be notified by parts of the gun leaving the area at high velocity.

A question for the metallurgists in the group. Forging steel with a coal forge adds carbon content to the steel as it is forged. Would the same happen with a propane forge? If it does indeed add carbon to metal by forging, would wrought iron be...

Yep. a soft wood like poplar is a wooly bugger to checker. A good hard wood is needed for good definition.

I fire lapped a Douglas barrel with LBT lapping compound. Low velocity loads for a half dozen shots, clean, test fire again. I had to fire around 18 rounds to get the accuracy where it should be. When I was cleaning the barrel between trials, I...

It certainly isn't ideal, however I have had several barrels over the years with very rough grooves. They shot very well, although there was the expected fouling build up.

Dean, I have always figured a .30 bore starts at 180 gr., and goes up from there. I think a 200-220 gr. bullet is probably optimum.

Blue strip ticking is the standard. I always find the proper mold to work with the ticking, rather than juggling patches.

You picked a good piece of wood to learn on. Poplar will be a bit soft, and be a little difficult to keep sharp, well defined lines, but should cut easily. I do all my octagon barrel inletting with chisels, and a homemade scraper. Takes me around...

49 days is the maximum before adopting. That is the point that they imprint on an individual. After that they will be harder to train.
