I think the .357 leverguns are probably the most versatile. They are fun plinkers and even hunt medium sized game such as deer with them. For someone just buying factory ammo the new 9mm carbines out there would be another option.

I've used 12 and 13 grs of AA9 very successfully in a Savage 340 30-30 with Lyman 311466. Groups run in the 1.5" range@100yds. Ballistics very uniform with SD's of 15 fps.

Yes you can! Shows up dramatically with .38 wadcutters. Wadcutters with all 3 lube grooves filled more than double the group size of single lube groove wc's@50yds. Learned that lesson more than 30 yrs ago with my Ransom rest.

Just buy the Lee collet neck sizer. Then just load them like a straight wall pistol cartridge. No lube required, just size& decap, "M" die,and primer then powder and bullet seat. No brass prep required. I load my 30-30's on a Lyman turret just...

I've been using Peltor Rangegards for sporting clays and am very happy with them. They only attenuate I think 23 DB so they might be a bit light for magnum pistols. They were $39. delivered from Amazon.

What I use for solvents like acetone are small bottles with metal lids that stuff like olives and other foodstuffs come in. Acetone and other solvents will attack the seal in the cap. To prevent that I cover the top of the bottle with aluminum...

That 13.5 gr load in Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook, 3rd Edition was a 41,000 cup load and crimped on the front drive band for an oal of 1.553". It was only .013" longer than a .38 special case crimped in the crimp groove. Definitely a max .357 load! I...

I have 2 Rossi 92's in .357 caliber,a 20" round carbine and 24" octagon rifle. I can see no difference in mechanical accuracy between them. They are solid 3 moa 100 yd rifles that I have put thousands of trouble free rounds through. The extra...

Oehler is top notch. My first Oehler chronograph used 1 shot mylar screens that read out in time which required going to a chart for the velocity. I was one of the beta testers for the sky screens when Dr. Oehler invented them. I currently own a...

If you do get an 8N be sure to get an overrunning clutch for the PTO. Simple idea, mounts right on the PTO shaft and works great. I bought one real quick when I saw what the bush hog would do to my old John Deere B.

Wadcutters are not necessarily the MOST accurate bullets but with classic bullseye loads they are generally quite accurate. Their main claim to fame is cutting clean holes in targets for scoring purposes, that's why they are used a lot in the...

This is from a 1995 Winchester powder guide. In Lane Simpson's Book the Custom 1911 he has some load data for the super with 155 and 160 gr lead bullets maxing out at 7.0/540.

IMO something you need to consider is the size of the HP in that devastator. I remember the HP in my .45 acp devastator was huge and they are basically designed to expand at pistol velocities. You are 300-500 fps over pistol speeds which would...

I got excellent accuracy with it in my Hipower with max loads of Longshot, 2.5" groups @25 yds and a bit over 1000fps. WSF also worked well in the 900fps range. For a heavy bullet in the 9MM I liked it better than the Lyman or RCBS designs. Shot...

With slow powders such as 2400,4227,296, Blue Dot, etc. a rifle will give you 350-400 fps over a handgun. Fast powders such as Bullseye, Red Dot 700x ,Unique will add approx 200 fps to handgun velocities in the .38/.357.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience."
- C. S. Lewis
