When it finally 'dawned' on me that I was going to have to keep that pin hot when it's out of the mould, I punched a hole in the mould oven to set it in when I was dumping a cast...that took care of that...that hole is where I put the pin when I...

I boiled mine for 15 minutes with the Dawn dish soap...poured the soapy water and oil off, filled with fresh hot tap water, softened well water and boiled again. Put the pan under the faucet and ran hot tap water so any remaining soap and oil...

Something to consider if you use a bottom pour pot... Is the bottom of the HP mould compatible with your mould rest?

I still keep my 2 single stage presses (1 for rifle brass & 1 for bullet sizing) & a turret (for pistol cals I wont buy conversion kits for) even if I mostly run my 2 550s (1 sp & 1 lp).

It took me several years to find a H&G #7, but when I did it looked like it had been hardly used at all. Even longer to find a 7mm #80. A #7 , 6 cavity sold on Ebay a few weeks ago, one of the guys on this site picked it up and got a great mold. ...

I have a #115, but acquired a #7 shortly thereafter, so I haven't taken the time to load any #115 and run them through the Ransom Rest check for accuracy. My guess is they will shoot just fine. As far as altering the mold it will take equipment...

The biggest problem I have with the dump method is most undercure the polymer so it never reaches full hardness so they can break the bullets apart.

As LLoyd pointed out more tumble time will give you a better coating and he is right. More time is not a problem when a machine is doing the work, but shanking a handful of bullets in a tub for 15 minutes is not high on my list. I found back in...

The higher velocities will probably require you to add copper to your alloy or the centrifugal forces will cause bullet to self destruct. I have gotten 2750 FPS using a neck sized lee 200gr pced bullet in rr ar 10.

That will work and was the way I found controled vibration works better. I don't know about the HF, but my Midway & Lyman tumblers had a 1/4"-20 threaded rod holding the bowl, so it was a simple thing to unscrew the rod, remove the bowl and...

The problem with cast rifle bullets is if you want to shoot full power loads at ranges over 50 yards is the bullets come out of the mold lopsided. A lopsided bullet is an unstable bullet that will start to wobble as distance increases and once...

I use and would recommend Smoke's powders, simply because every power he sells has been tested by an untold number of bullet coaters scattered across the USA, so you know the powder will work and is capable of giving excellent results. Off course it...

You are correct, in my modified tumblers the mass rotates with the bullets constantly turning in the powder due to the vibration. The Black BB's do not bounce around, but also rotate adding a gentle impact and cushion to the bullets as well as...

Good to know, but I suspect they are not heavy like the BB's? The weight seems to make a difference and the reason for the black one's.
