curioushooter replied to a thread 35 Krag Dies in Cast Boolits
35 Krag is not a wildcat, or at least nobody invented it in order to achieve some performance goal. It is a 100 year old supposedly popular rebore option for old krags. At this point it I think it is just cheaper to leave it 30-40 and rebarrel.

So, any 35 Krag users out there...like owners of a rebored Krag, where did you get your dies? What are your reloading strategies. I already contacted CH4D...they don't make em. I already know Redding will make you a set for the price of...

Another place mud daubers like...the air chuck of an air compressor. Yesterday I started up my table saw and some mud daubers were very upset. They have a very potent sting by the way, but I they are a beneficial insect to farmers/gardeners....

Sharp looking krag there Baltimoreed! I would have made those carriers and riser out of leather, tough. Do you use the high magnification on that krag? What smith did you send it to?

do you have the old style 870 frame ? or a newer 20gauge LW frame ? when remington made the frist 20gauge 870s they used the larger frame , then they switched to the 20 gauge frame, if you have the larger frame good luck trying to find a barrel,...

I love S&K mounts. Just not their Instamounts. They make some strong, slick looking mounts. It's shoehorning that goes on trying to turn a sight base into a scope mount never really works out. I've had one for M39 Mosin, K31 Swiss, and a Swedish M96...

Instamounts are a joke IMO. I've had them for several rifles and every one cost way too much and had a wandering zero among other problems. Drill and TAP scope mounts with quality bases and quality rings and a quality scope is the price you pay...

I have an old sporterized Krag which I favor. It has a rusty sewer pipe barrel and I would like to have a forward mounted optic base mounted, like the one from KragHaus Is there anyone that can do this work? It would be great to have it done...

So I had an opportunity recently to feel the grips on a New Model Superblackhawk with dragoon trigger guard, a New Model Superblackhawk Bisley, and a New Model Vaquero (same grip/frame as the flat top new model blackhawk). Of the three I think I...

"A 20:1 alloy might expand if pushed to 1400 fps or so." This IS about the velocity where expansion may be observed with NON HPed cast slugs of 36 caliber. The problem is an alloy that soft in that caliber without a gas check is almost certainly...

The MP-359 Hammer is an excellent bullet either as a solid or as a HP. I found the Solid worked alright in carbines while the small HP worked alright in revolvers. ...

You do know that they started with the large (44 caliber size) N-frame 357, then managed to downsize it to the small-medium frame K-frame (38 caliber size), then then introduced a new L-frame because people were ruining their K-frames running bad...

I practice with my 442 almost ever week. I carry Federal 130 grain HSTs 38 SPL +Ps, which are the best ammo you can put in a airlight or airweight J-frame whether 357 or 38 rated. Low recoil, accurate, and the best gel performance there is. I've...

I like this guy. Mr. Funk has a lot of good reviews on youtube as well. One thing I would suggest...a Sam Brown shoulder strap for his belt. Would looks sharp and move a lot of that weight to his shoulder instead of his hips. And the skeeter...

In a word NO. The heat treatment of the cylinder is probably different. It is just a bad idea all around. And besides the difference in performance is pretty insubstantial with cast boolits or any other non-expanding bullet. I've done the tests on...

Yea, I have been dwelling on the fact that a 5 1/2" 44 SPL Ruger Blackhawk Bisley is pretty much Keith's #5, arguably the most influential custom revolver ever built. Same caliber, approximate barrel length, adjustable sights, size/weight, and grip...

Correct me if I am wrong but the VISUAL TELL that I asked for is the "EARS" on the topstrap. When you guys said flattop that meant nothing to me because I didn't understand how it was any different from a not flattop. They all look flat to me. Now I...

Wow. So I am slightly less confused than before. The one thing I do know is a really dig those 44 Special Rugers. As far as recoil goes are you shooting these with Skeeter type loads or Keith type? In my 624 (which I've yet to use in double...

Is this a certainty? And is the New Model 357 frame significantly smaller? I say this because my Brother In Law has a 4.6" New Model Blackhawk in 357 Mag and I've handled it. It looked absurdly fat to me, and I'd be hard pressed to say it was...
